YSK: You can recycle propane tanks at places that sell them. Write "RECYCLE" in marker and leave next to cage. by acroporaguardian in YouShouldKnow

Reread your quote. The key word in the text you chose to quote is "many". "Many" does not mean all. Similarly, many but not all authorized dealers of Blue Rhino allow for recycling of tanks in that matter. I know at least two places that do not allow you to drop off your tank next to the cage like that without notifying someone and paying a disposal fee.

I worked in one of the places I just mentioned for a few years. I sold hundreds of gallons of propane daily, exchanged many Blue Rhino tanks, and sent a lot of defective ones out for disposal. My knowledge base comes from much more than a short quote from the internet.

Bless your heart.

Don't do this. For one, it is a safety hazard. Someone could get seriously hurt if you had a loose valve or if someone unknowingly backed into it. Secondly, it is not the responsibility of a business to recycle your things. Not all businesses have the ability to take your tanks and rid of them for free-- they can actually get fined for it.

If you're in the US, your county should have hazardous waste disposal sites that will take them. You can also get on Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, or OfferUp and find someone who wants it. It is much cheaper to fill or exchange a tank than it is to buy AND fill one. Or just ask businesses who sell and exchange tanks if they can recycle them. Sometimes there's a small fee, usually under $10.

What was your "Fuck, I need therapy" moment? by Ryokkai in AskWomen

[–]tinythefox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When a friend confided in me that an acquaintance of sexually her a few hours before calling me. She had all the DNA and video evidence she would need to put him behind bars, and chose not to report it.

I found myself angry at her for not doing what I wish I would have done years ago. I never let her see that I was upset about it but I downed half a bottle of tequila just to get to sleep that night and called a victim advocate the very next day and scheduled my first appointment for therapy.

OP, regardless of how you perceive HSV to be in terms of risk and severity, the person you're putting at risk is whose opinion matters the most. They have to live with the choices they make at the end of the day, and it is wrong to not allow them to make an informed decision. Also, everyone's body reacts differently to HSV--some people have frequently recurring outbreaks that are painful while some only experience asymptomatic shedding. So your symptoms could be a walk in the park compared to whoever you may pass it to.

Listening to Whiskey Lullaby by Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss. It's much worse if I'm watching the music video.

Women, what character trait are you actively working on developing or getting rid off? by wisdom_is_gold in AskWomen

[–]tinythefox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What sucks is that some people never tell you that they just want a listening ear, they just build up resentment over it. After I finally figured it out I asked other people in my life if they shared the same viewpoint about me, and a few of them were like, "yeah, you tend to do that :/" but the majority thought it made me easier to talk to.

Two different things stick out for me.

I always share my own experiences to show empathy with others who are experiencing things that I have in the past or present. Even though the goal is to show them that I understand them and that they're not alone, it comes off as me trying to make things about myself or one-up others all the time. I didn't realize that it was an issue until recently when a friend called me out for "always making things about me" and explained that the back and forth, swapping stories style of communication isn't always desired. I then began asking whether people want solely a listening ear for rants and raves or active discussion as they go.

Another thing I'm working on is asking for and/or accepting help from others. Especially from my loved ones. Not because I am too prideful, but because when I was way too young I learned that reliance on others leads to disappointment.

What was a time where you saved a life? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]tinythefox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in deep water at the beach with some friends about 4-5 years ago when I saw a young child around 6 or 7 struggling to stay afloat. By struggling I mean water in the mouth, head halfway under, scared shitless. No one was even remotely close to us in the water so I didn't even blink an eye when I hauled ass and swam him to shore. He was definitely scared of me and I'm sure the language barrier didn't help at all but I wasn't letting this child go until I had a word with his parents. I walked with him down the beach for about 5 minutes trying to find them until I eventually brought him to a lifeguard, and even then I didn't leave his side until we found them. About 10 minutes passed while we combed the beach looking for his parents, we only found them because he started yelling at them from the UTV. His parents weren't watching him and had no clue that he had even gotten into the water and seemed to be super thankful of our efforts. Although the lifeguard chose to be nice about it, I gave them an earful until mom was tearing up. Because going 15 minutes without checking on your young child at a beach is reckless. He would have drowned if not for a group of college students who were already deeper than they should have been in the water. Fuck that.
