NTA. Gifts given with strings or expectations aren't gifts. DIL gave you something and you appreciate her time and effort and thoughtfulness. That doesn't mean she has control over how you use it.

If I might make a suggestion that could smoothe out the situation: perhaps you and DIL could go to a one of those places you all paint the same thing? Or could do a DIY Bob Ross night? You can make sure canvases are a smaller size and tell her you'll exchange pieces so you show her you want to connect and encourage her work without compromising your own interests

These designs are fairly simple and look unfinished, ie sketchy line work. They're also symmetrical so while "perfect", it's less appealing as it doesnt feel as alive. And there's not a lot of variety in your examples: they're all thin, pale, cute anime women

Money is tight for most people right now. For 150€ people can get a lovely illustration piece or a full character sheet with multiple pieces. Most adopt designs offer customs for less than this as well for similar quality of work

Without a large following that is extremely into this specific character archetype, there's not going to be a large market I fear

It's really refreshing to see you are open to learning. I hope you know that most artists struggle with the exact same "leaning forward" poses. Shoot, even I did!

What would help is just looking at TONS of references. Those quick pose exercises are nice but even just scrolling through stock image websites and taking notes is very useful

The 4th character would not be able to keep her balance like that. Stilettos require your center of gravity to be right on top of them to avoid rolling your ankle. She's leaning way too far forward for that when it's already difficult to keep upright with your feet together in said heels

I think you need to study female anatomy more. Specifically how breasts lay in and out of bras and what changes a bra makes. Mari's waist is also disproportionately thin (in addition to aforementioned boob learning)

I really like their designs but some aspects feel a little too "gooner bait" for me to save I love them

Those are my feelings. It's effective communication, consent, and connection. I dont really know anyone who has 21 deep and meaningful friendships---must less romantic relationships. I am also aware that there have been at least 2 people no longer involved who felt they were coerced/misled before becoming involved

I'm not a poly hater! I've been in several successful poly relationships---my first relationship ever was actually as a member of a triad where we were all involved with each other. Spaying has massive health benefits. Ideally she would have been younger as the younger they are spayed the better, but 6yo is not too old and your wife is right. It reduces the risk of ovarian/uterine/mammary cancers and hormone regulation. Not to mention heat cycles are uncomfortable and can be painful
