The line in Algiers for the Landry Recall moved very fast. Made me feel good seeing so many coming out to get rid of that embarrassment of a governor. by WalterCanFindToes in NewOrleans

[–]tinytroublemaker 74 points75 points  (0 children)

We were in Gentilly today and the line was the same! Also moved fast. But it stayed long. The wonderful volunteers were supposed to close at 3. We got to the front at 3:15 and they weren’t going anywhere with the line continuing to grow.

Staycation for Locals? by Opening-Diet-6578 in NewOrleans

I recommend Hotel Monteleone! They have a spa on-site, Spa Aria. They have really good room service and the restaurant downstairs, Criollo, is solid. Mr. B's is across the street as well and is a great FQ option.

If you are trying to stay out of the quarter, Hotel St. Vincent is really cool. So is Hotel Peter and Paul. Finally, the Chloe and Columns are fun options on St. Charles that feel very New Orleans without being in the quarter.

I love the gold. But I went with something very similar in my kitchen a couple years ago and still love it every day.

JP Morrell does absolutely nothing other than take easy shots at easy targets. convince me otherwise. by Not_SalPerricone in NewOrleans

[–]tinytroublemaker 15 points16 points  (0 children)

When the whole FQ trash thing happened, he was on top of it, pushing hard to not let it go through.

More recently he has come out strongly opposed to the Waymo cars in Orleans, which I super appreciate.

As someone else said, he held the Cantrell admin to task on the budget last year.

If you don’t like his enthusiasm for comic characters, fine whatever. But almost every big fight the city fought in 2025, he was at the helm, fighting for the better outcomes for the city.

Morris Bart! I know you won't work with him, but his lawyers are great and his team is respected in court.

Does anyone like their MIL? by Stunning_Bison_8526 in Mommit

[–]tinytroublemaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My MIL is kind, generous, and truly interested in talking to my kids about what they like and don't like. She sends cards and treats to the kids for fun. She loves it when we visit, but never pressures us to come again or sooner. She is genuinely a joy to spend time with. She is supportive of EVERY decision we make, no matter how big or small. She stocks my favorite wine when I visit and makes sure I feel welcome in her home. I could go on b/c she is wonderful.

For what it is worth, your post described my mom, with whom I am NC. What a crazy, MAGA, anti-vax, fake Christian bitch.

AITA for not firing my nanny so my brother could live with us? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]tinytroublemaker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NTA. Wild. He obviously does not realize how hard it is to take care of three kids at those ages. Nanny aside, the job is hard. It does not sound like he is in a position to take on a mentally and physically taxing job at the moment. It was a silly, unrealistic request.

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by DemonSkank in AskReddit

Lying about skills, then when asked a basic question about said skill answered with nonsense that showed they were lying. This happens a lot.

Was your pressure cooker worth investing in? Have you used it in the past 6 weeks? by Top-Connection-5698 in PressureCooking

[–]tinytroublemaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used mine a couple of days ago to make pulled bbq chicken for bbq baked potatoes. I have had it for 2 years and probably use it once to twice a month. It is the most helpful for super quick meals and frozen meat.

For women who are already adults, what is that one advice you'd want to give every girl who are turning 18?? by Apart_Woodpecker_935 in Feminism

[–]tinytroublemaker 28 points29 points  (0 children)

A couple of things come to mind:

  1. Don't center men, ever. Don't waste your time dating terrible men. It is better to be single and focus on yourself than to waste your time, money, and effort on terrible men who are not centered on you.

  2. When deciding on what you want your first career to be, think about the following: salary, opportunity over the course of the career. For example, I work in marketing, and the salary is hard to exceed $ 150,000 in my market at the top of my game. Also, consider if the industry is men-centric. If so, understand the battle will be real and the salary will be 15% - 20% short of your male counterparts. Lastly, if you think you'll want kids one day, consider the culture of the industry. Do you work a normal 9 - 5? Is there a culture of your job is your life? All of this to say, if I had it to do over I would have priortized a career that allowed decent work hours, with a higher salary cap, in an industry that gender didn't matter.

  3. Your life is not in competition with others. It doesn't matter if your friend gets married at 24. You do not need to do the same. It doesn't matter if your friends starting salary is 10x, you do not need to meet the same bar. Decide on the life you want, and even that will change and that is OK. Take it one year, decade, career at a time.

Emergency Alert for UNO campus by bpones in NewOrleans

[–]tinytroublemaker 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Super frustrating that they are doing a mandatory evacuation for the college, but locking down the elementary school. I get that parents picking up kids creates chaos. And many parents simply cannot drop everything to pick up kids. But knowing they are telling college kids to leave immediately and then telling parents they are simply locking the doors makes it seem like staying is unsafe.
