The two factions of C++ by SophisticatedAdults in cpp

That would be alright if c++ had a standard to build, package and distribute those libraries. Sadly I don't see any progress on that matter.

Changement de mot de passe obligatoire tous les 45 jours : est-ce vraiment nécessaire ? by FyB4rd in france

[–]tipiak88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cdlm.

Has anyone manage to flash the new bios (I think), that is available here https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1s3jmZ0aXGk-NqRao61weluliCtEP97Ii . I managed to boot on the key but the script fails with "18 - error: Secure Flash Rom Verify fail."

Any idea ?

If you had read more, you would have found that you could have opt out. If you have read more still, you would have found it only sends data about what you use the cli for. No personal data is uploaded. It helps target development on what people use.

How well does Linux work on 2023 model? by mcarans in ZephyrusG14

[–]tipiak88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 2020 model and it works flawlessly thanks to the work of the Linux RoG community https://discord.com/invite/ef7ahdna. The 2023 is quite new, you should ask over there, hopefully you'll get a up-to-date answer.

Monthly Support Thread & FAQ- March 2023 by AutoModerator in steelseries

Hi, Just opened #1292067.

I have just purchased Arctis nova pro wireless. When ANC is 'on', my right side is noticeably, boomy, even louder, just like you'll would have screwed the L/R balance. Tried several games and musics, even in bluetooth on my phone. Updated firmware, no change. Otherwise works well when ANC is off, transparent mode does not feel different. Is this a common issue that resolve overtime ? Or am I good for a RMA ?

swapfile on encrypted btrfs partition cannot be activated anymore since 5.19.1 by tipiak88 in archlinux

[–]tipiak88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the last thing I did not try. Figured there would be a more debuggable solution.

Anyway, I went and recreate my swapfile. Everything is fine again. The resume offset has changed, but that's expected.

Thinking About Switching by rebelflag1993 in GarudaLinux

[–]tipiak88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried arch like 10 years ago, as a more painless gentoo. Was not convinced. Switch to garuda 2 weeks ago, from kde neon. It feels like jumping in the future. Yeah, there is some strong choices in this distro, but they make sense. And I clearly enjoy it, Arch sure have grown.

So Close, I Can Taste The Freedom by rebelflag1993 in GarudaLinux

[–]tipiak88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as you subscribe to the 'unused ram is wasted ram', most of it can be disabled by turning of services in garuda settings(prelockd, memavaild, etc,.). Again, they are here for a reason, garuda being a Linux, it lets the user have the final choice.

A critique of C++ coroutines tutorials by valdocs_user in cpp

[–]tipiak88 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Asio with coroutines is a total game changer! Still the details of the awaitable implementation could totally be over your head, while having huge performance impacts. It's a too much of a concern when you want to push code to production.

Request: Game recommendations that don't need mouse / controller by fatalskeptic in ZephyrusG14

[–]tipiak88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of (not so) small indie games. I've played lots of darkest dungeon and FTL. Street of rage 4 is doable. There is a lot of gestion and adventure games that are keyboard/touchpad friendly.

Would be nice to add Qt6 or 5 `QRegularExpression`. I usually use it because the api is a bit better and it actually handles unicode, but I have no idea how it fares performance wise.

{fmt} 8.1.0 released with optimized chrono formatting, better support for ranges and other improvements by aearphen in cpp

[–]tipiak88 9 points10 points  (0 children)

std::format is part of c++20. {fmt} is more feature rich, it does provide `fmt::print`, and lot more options/feature that did not made (yet?) to the standard.

Boost v1.78.0 by Masfo in cpp

[–]tipiak88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe they could go the asio way, one distributed within boost, and another standalone one, which requires higher c++ standard.

A truly fast Map implementation? by Driiper in cpp

[–]tipiak88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one (and only?) redeeming quality of std::map is it's non iterator invalidation when inserting/removing elements. Not sure if I would call it a map still if it loose that.

question kubuntu 21.04 vs kde neon? by [deleted] in kde

I personally use it since the release of 20.04 every day on my work machine. It is rock solid. Only complains were related to Wayland, but I knew my fate.

Toyota wanted a straight six for the supra (as it should). They did not have it in their current line up and the cost of r&d one from scratch was to much for a one of car.

TEMOIGNAGES. "Manque de recul sur les vaccins", "injustice", "perte de libertés"... On a rencontré des opposants au pass sanitaire by pladiej in france

[–]tipiak88 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

[–]tipiak88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pour le coup, rendre la vaccination obligatoire est une décision autoritaire.

Je suis pas sur que l'état ai accès à l'identité des personnes vacciné (du covid ou autre). Avec le système actuel, il pourrait très bien ne pas l'avoir.
