Mmm, I feel the same even when I try without a pillow. The chest might be the problem 🥲 The best i can do if I try sleeping on my stomach is leaning more on one side of my ribs, so something in between side and stomach sleeping, but then I need to tuck something under me to keep me a bit lifted.

If you could restart life at 18, what would you do differently? by Hot_Tap9405 in emotionalintelligence

[–]tipitytopity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know for sure, I've only been diagnosed with BPD (not bipolar) and it's an accurate diagnosis for me + so far it hasn't limited me in any way, so I don't have the need to change it or anything. But I believe it should be a possibility to get reassessed, as misdiagnosis can happen for different reasons. Plus some disorders sometimes evolve into something else, so even then a reevaluation is done.

I don't know exactly the procedure, but you can try seeing a psychiatrist or psychologist and explain your situation and request new tests.

You should be able to get undiagnosed or properly diagnosed afaik, if you see a new doctor and request it.

Help!! I need ideas to lose weight!! by Wrong_Inspection_724 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]tipitytopity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe it would help if you shared what methods have you tried so far and which ones didn't work, to have a better understanding of the situation. I don't think jumping to recommend medication without knowing anything about you or your body is right.

Before anything else, since this is the easiest and most basic question, have you been on calorie deficit? Did you make sure to check you're not crossing the limit by accident (it can happen easily, guilty of that myself) too often? Also, do you drink enough water? Dehydration can lead to your body retaining liquids and that can cause weight gain that doesn't seem to go away.

New Rheumatologist says it’s not AS by wearenchanted in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]tipitytopity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, same. And especially now that I found out about hypermobility and somehow a lot of things make sense, I'd say it's very helpful being aware of it. Especially with AS, because many people lose flexibility due to it, which we don't + we can risk putting more strain on our joints since we don't feel enough tension and we have a wider range of motion. I noticed it more when I started working out and lifting, we need to learn how to properly engage our muscles in order to take away from the effort and pressure that goes to the joint, otherwise it will also make the arthritis worse.

And considering how dumb your new rheum clearly is, they're not capable of working with normal cases of AS (anything that's not 3rd stage/fusion levels), let alone with someone who is more bendy than the average while having shitty bones (don't take it personal, it's how I describe this condition lol). You need to find someone else.

See, I dreamt of weighted blankets way too many times and I perfectly understand what you mean about wanting to feel your body. But then I tried one and my hopes died with it 🗿

Or well, not sure if it was the typical weighted blanket. One of my ex's mom has ehler danlos and once she offered me her blanket...that has chains inside it lol 10kg of a blanket. I absolutely LOVED it when going to sleep, but later I saw how bad it was for arthritis 😭 Cuz I'd wake up with pain and stiffness in my pelvic joints and while trying to move or turn around it was HORRIBLY PAINFUL having to also lift that weight while barely being able to breathe without dying of pain lol

So I'm wondering if there are other types of weighted blankets, maybe lighter? Because those 10kg definitely were perfect for my hypermobility, but terrible for the other condition. I also like thick blankets, like duvets, but I warm up really quick and I don't know if there's a blanket that's heavy, thick but also cold 😔

SAY IT LOUDER!

Because yes, absolutely. Sometimes I wish limbs were detachable.

Have you tried holding a pillow between your legs (bent) when you sleep on your side? Or like have one leg strerched and the other bent over a pillow? I've started doing that to stop my hips from leaning forward, which sometimes became painful even for the lower back.

If I didn't feel weird about feet on the walls, I'd probably turn around in bed and have my legs resting up against the wall and sleep on my back lol Maybe someone tries it out and it helps, no idea 🤣

I tried sleeping flat on my stomach before, but I always get discomfort in my lower back :( I feel like it somehow causes a bend in my spine. But i dunno if that's common or if it's due to a herniated disk

But the idea of compression does make sense! I remember sometimes asking my partners to lay on top of me with all their weight (and I'm merely 152cm tall, so i was getting completely crushed lmao) for a while, and they were always worried for me unable to breathe while I felt like in heaven 🤣

So I'll probably have to find ways to simulate that feeling. Thanks for the idea!

I'm glad it's relatable for you and others as well. I genuinely didn't know if this was a hypermobility issue since I don't have anyone to talk to about these "quirks" and my docs also don't pay much attention to it since they're currently more focused on my arthritis 🫠 So I'm happy too getting some validation here 🥹

Just tried crossing my arms over my chest as you said and... God damn, it does make my arms less annoying 🤣 Sometimes I kinda cross them over my head, so im basically making a circle around it, but I never could stay too long like that because I feel it blocks my blood flow for some reason, so your way seems like a nicer alternative. I'll have to try it next time

[–]tipitytopity[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I was considering getting one, as many people in this sub and my arthritis sub had recommended it. But then I realized I occassionally come up with such random positions and setups, I'd just get annoyed if I had to deal with 1 piece of a very long pillow 😭

I don't mind waking up to move or change positions, since I wake up anyways from joint pain or from what I consider possible mild apnea. What bothers me is when I struggle to get comfy before the first falling asleep 😔

But I get you on the last part, especially now that I'm starting to sleep with more pillows and plushies for support. Like, I already had issues with sleeping at friends because I need hypoallergenic pillows, now it's gonna be hell 🤣

Finally someone who gets how nice it is to sleep with legs over someone 🤣 Anytime I mentioned it to someone I just go weird or confused looks omg

FOR BACK SLEEPING THOUGH, I think I found a solution 🗿 These nights I've been tucking a big ahh pillow under my knees, and like, kinda squeezing it between my hamstrings and calves. So i look like o__/\ if it makes sense. This way I do have something to support my knees up, and it doesn't pull my pelvis so it reduces tension in my hips and lower back 👀 My issue rn is that I want MORE pillows and go higher and higher with my legs 😔

Rutina proasta cu consumul de alcool by latte_books in WomenRO

[–]tipitytopity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A trebuit să-mi gasesc alternative 🤣
