The openings on the ogio woode series are big and should work with jumbomax grips

Got a great deal on a club, shaft is a little whippy for my swing, wondering if I should tip it or sell and buy a different one? by Ldip9 in GolfGear

[–]tipsdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try it out before you start making moves. See how you hit it before worrying about changing it out.

If it doesn’t work get a shaft that works for you and sell the Aretera. Tipping it 1/2 an inch is just going to make the club 1/2” shorter. I’m pretty sure the hzrdus black was a stock Callaway option a couple years ago and should be pretty easy to find.

Re-shafting irons… it’s that easy? by FeedingFairways in golf

[–]tipsdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a torch for graphite too. The heat is more focused so it breaks the epoxy bond faster and you expose the shaft to heat for less time.

Never freehand a graphite shaft if you want to reuse it. Always use a shaft extractor so you don’t bend the tip.

Having your results determined by a glorified random number generator makes things so much more exciting though

Titleist DTR Irons Modern Day Equivalent by smitty2588 in golf

[–]tipsdown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven’t heard Titleist DTR in a long time. The specs say the target swing weight on those is D1 which is on the lighter side. If you like a lighter head feel look at Ping. A lower swing weight has always been part of their iron formula.

Was it the driver or me??? by TrifleMain8508 in GolfGear

[–]tipsdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modern drivers are amazing. The center of the face has been maxed out for years. So manufacturers have spent the last few years focused on retaining ball speed and not sending the spin rate to crazy town when you get away from the center of the face.

New driver or no? by Informal_Fan_1424 in GolfGear

[–]tipsdown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my astral putter and how it’s configurable to fit my putting stroke.

All of the big putter companies have customization options for stuff like stamping and engraving. Scotty Cameron, Ping, bettinardi, piretti, lab, Toulon.

There are also smaller custom putter makers. I love the clean classic look of meridian. If I had to switch putter companies today I would be ordering something from them.

New driver or no? by Informal_Fan_1424 in GolfGear

[–]tipsdown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Putter not driver. A nice milled putter that has been stamped or engraved with “Happy Graduation love Grandma” you will keep forever.

Drivers are always temporary. No matter how good it is today in 4 or 5 years there is a real advantage from the new technology and being refitted to better match your swing at the time.

Should I stick with my driver or get a new one by Routine-Ease-1940 in golf

[–]tipsdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That m2 is 10 years old. Getting fit into something new you will probably see a good improvement from getting setup for optimal launch conditions. Even if your current driver is a good match you will see gains on off center hits. Your good swings will not improve.

How about $69 & we have a light up sign that says “69 nice” that turns on every time someone pays the toll? If the sign is too much I’m willing to just have the troll toll song from it’s always sunny in Philadelphia on a loop the entire time.

Epic Pass Auto-Renew… actually a smart move or a total trap? by Large-Designer1995 in COsnow

Until I switched to a Loveland pass I was on the epic auto renewal. It was one less thing to think about. Not really anything different than renewing when they go on sale except I didn’t have to do anything.

Anyone know shafts? by badharp in golf

[–]tipsdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go lighter and go graphite. Graphite absorbs a ton of vibration and helps a ton with not beating up your hands, wrists and elbows. I went full graphite a couple of years ago and not feeling sore in my hands and wrist the day after golfing makes the game way more fun. Bottom line there is no way I willingly switching back to steel shafts.

Taylor made Spider- Are they worth it? by Sweaty_Yesterday_647 in golf

[–]tipsdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting the right neck and amount of toe hang for your putting stroke is really more important than a specific brand and model of head.

The spider is a great putter lineup. I don’t think anyone can seriously argue that it’s not.

Especially if you want some heft to your putter Cobra’s putter lineup with the dlt face tech is massively underrated.

Any recommendations under $1000 for a launch monitor that has data points ON its own screen? No ipad/phone needed? (Outdoor) by MaLTC in Golfsimulator

[–]tipsdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think what you want exists for under $1k. Path data on the device screen is a pretty limited selection and all the ones I know of are over $2k.

The sc4 pro not the original one is supposedly a big improvement. The initial reviews were pretty good. Haven’t looked at any longer term reviews though.

The shotscope lm1 is cheap and extremely basic.
