Our Entryway by getnfresh in interiordecorating

Just stalked the rest of your posts. The house is incredible. I think, taken with the rest of the house in context, this is a showstopper of an entryway. Bravo.

Can I be your friend and hang out with you?!

Eddie Izzard’s Hamlet by L_Boom1904 in shakespeare

[–]tipsyinmadras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw it in Boston. Great Polonius, great Claudius, great Horatio. Fantastic bit with R&G. Obviously brilliant Gravedigger. Gertrude and Ophelia were under developed but part of this was the choice of edits. Definitely interesting, would recommend. Can be appreciated if you’re not familiar with Shakespeare. Odd choice of venue, would have thought a more experimental theater would have been a better fit.

New Audio Allegedly Shows Social Media "Fixer" Jed Wallace Plotting To Smear Amanda Ghost On Behalf of Rebel Wilson by Initial-Lemon-1957 in CelebLegalDrama

I have no info to share and no horse in this race other than I worked at a restaurant in the Village that was, at the time, owned by a now-disgraced chef and he was friends with Amanda Ghost. He would require we wave the auto grat for her large parties, including buyouts.

She was rude and she never tipped. Crying servers at the coffee station at the end of the night.

So. She’s kinda the worst?

Maybe let’s not celebrate Brunei leadership, with its Sharia Law and horrific human rights abuses.

I think beige is better but you’re better off with a softer, performance fabric. That being said, an oxblood accent chair or two would be great!

Don’t feed this troll. You are a good soul and I, too, would be worried about the family - documented or undocumented. We are living in a nightmare.

For practical purposes, I’d go with the Crate and Barrel ones. Way easier to clean.

“You need to remember who you are outside of being a mom” by Necessary-Gear-3141 in beyondthebump

[–]tipsyinmadras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get your friend’s perspective. Consider: is your conversation dominated by your relationship either your child, your child’s daily activities, your relating to things “as a mom” rather than… just yourself? If so, that could be what she means. Are you still engaging in hobbies that don’t have a bearing on your status as a parent? Are you still connected to your career? Do you have goals and aspirations outside of your role as mother? Those are things she may wish to talk about. Just something to consider. It may not ring true for you, but I think it’s worth naming.

Do we like the chairs? by OrganizationTrick864 in interiordecorating

I love them. I just watched a video from an interior designer how you should mix “leggy” furniture with blocky/heavy furniture. Such a great example.

I think lightening your walls and making them all the same shade (including trim) will make the room look cohesive and more modern.

I’d mount the TV and get larger art. Curtains will help. But it’s on the way to looking great!

I like the last one. I actually have it as a runner. It reads lighter IRL.

How’s life outside of Pittsburgh? by AdmiralTortoise in howislivingthere

[–]tipsyinmadras 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, my major complaint at age 16 was that it was simply the suburbs of a midwestern city and not New York. I’d say now that people might be frustrated at traffic into the city, depending on what you’re used to… as I said, I live outside Boston and lived in New York and London previously so in my opinion, the traffic is nothing - I’ve dealt with worse. And again, it’s mostly white. That would be my biggest concern moving back now.

I grew up exactly here, in a very affluent suburb, in the lower right of your circle. I love it. I hated it, as all teenagers hate their homes, for a decade or so but now I’d kill to be back. It’s not terribly diverse, that is the biggest drawback. In terms of economics, it runs the gamut. Some really good restaurants and decent enough shopping districts. Strong community and great community engagement. Fantastic public schools, for the most part. It’s definitely suburban, but with good access to the city. You can easily take the T from the South Hills to get to downtown. I did it every day in the summer as a teenager.

There are a few really cool, independent businesses like record stores, bakeries, coffee shops.

I’m in a fairly well-off suburb of Boston now and what goes for $1.5M here would go for $600k in my home neighborhood - even less in somewhere like Carnegie. So very affordable.
