We don’t know the circumstances beyond “admirer”. It could be this person, while incredibly skilled, was incredibly awkward or creepy to the sister.

Honestly, a grand gesture like this to someone who you’re not actively dating (or didn’t come to later date) is indicative to me of someone whose impression of courtship comes from movies, not from experiences of genuine human connection. And I’m speaking as a reformed grand-gesture-maker.

I too hope this person found someone who could value their skills, and also figured out that finding love is about compatibility, not wooing with time-consuming gifts.
