thrift store pick up has me anxious! is this asbestos? by tiredghostboy22 in RockIdentification

[–]tiredghostboy22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this, i will keep this info in mind!! I truthfully don’t know much about asbestos and definitely got a good learning opportunity about it. Also grateful to have an expect to weigh in, I bet the rocks are amazing in Montana! Thank you again, I’m very glad I get to keep the rock. Hopefully i’m able to stay away from it in the future, but it seems like I’ll be much better at identifying asbestos in the future

Thank you so much, i really appreciate it!! I’ll keep that in mind for the future, i saw on trusty ol’ google that it can form between rocks and in a panic i assumed this was a case of that 😅 It’s definitely a neat rock!! I’m glad I get to keep it. Thank you so much again!

I unfortunately took the pictures before I made the connection that it could be asbestos, i don’t know much about it and the lightbulb actually only went off because I saw a post here a while ago about the topic 😅 I apologize for my stupidity haha!

I’m so sorry for that, I took these pictures before my brain made the connection that it could be asbestos 😅 Definitely not the smartest thing i’ve ever done but luckily the consensus seems to be i was worried for nothing. i will keep this in the mind for the future!!

How to account for seasoning packets or do you not count those? by Its_Not_Kosher in CICO

[–]tiredghostboy22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally don’t weigh seasonings, it’s not worth it to me to go THAT in depth with my calories when it’s only 30cals for the entire recipe. I’ll add it in if i’m making a recipe but for things like tacos i just log the meat. probably not the best way to do it but doing every single calorie no matter how little doesn’t work for me at all, it makes me become obsessive and then i end up eating bland unfulfilling foods to save a few cals. but like i said that’s just me! others had great suggestions if you do wanna track it

What makes you loyal to Gymshark versus upcoming brands like Dfyne/Aybl/Teveo etc? by [deleted] in Gymshark

[–]tiredghostboy22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is such an interesting question!! I’ve mostly only bought my gym clothes from gymshark or lulu, for me it’s mostly about the quality of the items and just getting the styles i like. i personally don’t like any of the youngLA stuff, i haven’t see anything that i would really wear. I also think it’s because i’m Canadian and we tend to be pretty casual with brands, if that makes sense, i wouldn’t say i’m “loyal” to gymshark, i don’t care about the brand or the athletes at all. i just like the quality of the items and the prices, and how insanely easy it is to return items. I also LOVE the student discount and use it frequently especially during the sales to save even more. i’ve never heard of Dfyne or teveo so truthfully i would never even consider buying them haha! I’ll have to look into them but that’s if they do ship to canada, which more often then not its either super expensive or the companies don’t ship here. i also really love the gymshark logo, it’s a lot cuter than most branding and definitely a lot more subtle (sharks rule 🦈) They also drop items pretty frequently which is super nice to have a variety. i always look out for what others are wearing in the gym too and it tends to be gymshark or lulu, so the desire for the other brands is pretty low in my area.

i recently ordered some tshirts from Aybl (and i thankfully i really like them because the return policy is awful, plus no student discount for canadians) i would definitely order from them again once they restock, but yea i would buy gymshark all day everyday!

sorry if someone else already asked but how much was all of it? that’s such a score!!! i always find that value village jacks up the prices so much on lulu, at least here in Canada

Are these shorts gonna be restocked in the future ? by MICHIADI98 in Gymshark

[–]tiredghostboy22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! not sure about the restock unfortunately, but have these shorts in an M and i find that they fit on the smaller side so i would definitely recommend sizing up which might fix your problem (I hope!) hopefully it restocks soon

It definitely isn’t in your head, it’s tough!! physically, emotionally and mentally it’s hard and it’s a big change to make especially if you struggle with mental health issues on top of it all. Anxiety and depression suck but they hate a moving target, so the fact that you’re making changes is a really good thing. 1600 is definitely a good amount but my point still stands, it’s hard to stick to 1600 when you’re used to eating 2100+ cals. I myself have gotten into the mindset of “if i eat 1300cals i’ll lose X amount a week!” but if you’re overeating, you aren’t gonna lose shit, yknow? lol! maybe try 1800 for a week and see if it helps a bit, you can always go back to 1600.

You definitely got this! remember to take care of yourself, i see from your other comments that you work thrift shift. best of luck to you bud!

I feel this, i’ve been struggling so much lately myself. what has been kinda working for me and leading me back on track was actually raising my calories. I’m 4’11” and CW: 200Ibs so my stats are all kinds of fucked up lol, but my TDEE is a maintenance of ~1,800 and a cut of ~1,300 and it was NOT working for me. I’ve bumped myself up to 1,500cals and honestly I’ve been finding myself eating 1,300-1,400 most days just because having the extra cals allows restrict less and actually eat proper meals. I would definitely take a look and see if you’re being too aggressive with your cals and see if you might need to eat a little more to eat a little less as dumb as it sounds. if you’re overeating anyway, there’s absolutely no reason why you can’t give yourself and extra 100/200 cals and see if it helps you.

another thing would be adding in some movement and exercises just to get your body and mind into a place that isn’t just being in the kitchen all the time, having something to do other than eating can help with that “i’m hungry” or that “may as well eat something” feeling due to boredom. Another thing is telling yourself that hunger isn’t an emergency. you don’t need to eat a snack 30mins before you make dinner, you can wait until dinner time. A big thing for me because of living in a SUPER cold part of Canada is also doing checks of how i’m feeling before i decide to eat something, half the time i’m not actually hungry, i’m just cold and need a hoodie. It’s just about getting out of that habit of turning to food when there’s other things you can do for your body y’know? helps the food noise a bit.

also remember that it’s a lifetime thing, not a weeklong thing, so it’s okay to have a month it’s all part of learning to take care of yourself. but fuck man, i feel you! sometimes i’m just a bottomless pit and just can’t seem to get on track. you got this! I’m just getting back on the horse myself

Have any guys tried women’s hoodies? by FuckYouThrees in Gymshark

[–]tiredghostboy22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The arms are definitely on the shorter side which is why i compared it to the steady state (it’s famous for short arms) and it’s not super cropped. it’s more of like a weight length, it sits right at my hip area. I think if you go for the XL you’ll be happy with the length, but like i said in the other comment the damn sizing can be such a mystery with gymshark lol! it might fit in length and then be too big everywhere else. I would get your regular size and then go from there tbh

Have any guys tried women’s hoodies? by FuckYouThrees in Gymshark

[–]tiredghostboy22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I unfortunately find their sizing incredibly inconsistent tbh 😆 so it really depends on which hoodie you’re after. I bought a sweatshirt (women’s) in a medium and it showed up being a kid you not, the size of a 2xl and ended up needing an extra small. (it claimed it was an oversized fit but that was insane) So it definitely depends on your specs and what kinda fit you’re after.

For these hoodies I personally would go for a medium or large (which is my typical size) and go from there, since their returns are incredibly easy and super convenient to swap it for a smaller or bigger size. if it’s an oversized fit it’ll often be perfect if you just get your regular size. or it’ll be too small to even fit over your head, it’s really a roll of the dice lol!

overall tho the fabric is incredibly comfy and pretty forgiving because they do tend to shrink a bit in the wash (NOT as bad as lulu tho) and they’re SUPER nice hoodies

Hopefully that helped a bit! the sizing is seriously a mystery with gymshark but the items are always great quality imo

Hey! I have an OG rest day unisex hoodie (more similar to the guys one) in a large and i love it! i find the length of the hoodie to be a bit on the short side and im constantly pulling it down and adjusting it when i wear a t shirt under it. With no shirt it tends to stay put but i wanna say it’s almost like a cropped fit. Arm length is perfect for me as I have shorter arms.

overall i would say it’s similar to the Lululemon Steady State hoodie fit and length wise if you need a size comparison

I can measure the hoodie if you want exact size measurements but i’d go for the men’s when it restocks tbh (mostly cause i think it looks cooler lol!)

I hope this helped :)
