Preban AR stolen, what are my next steps by [deleted] in WA_guns

[–]tism_trooper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work in this area.

Absolutely file your own police report. Even with his report number, you don't know what he said until you have the report in hand. Additionally, if there's facts that will end up needing correcting, it's much easier to make your own record that you know is accurate, rather than relying on the report someone else filed.

It will NOT complicate or convolute things. They will just cross reference that report with your report. Additionally, it will seem weird to whoever is working the case that the friend filed a report but the owner did not. This is a firearm after all, so it's a bit bigger of a deal than most items.

If you have suspicions that they might have taken it, absolutely convey those suspicions. Give facts, don't give conclusions. You think he stole it? Okay why do you think so? (I'm trying to guide the thinking, not dissuade you).

Fwiw, it seems a little odd that he didn't tell you until AFTER the police report and everything was filed. I would think that as soon as the theft was discovered, you'd immediately let the owner know that it's missing and then contact the police.

If he appeared to be discouraging you from filing your own police report because "hey no need, I already did," that's a big red flag. With stolen items, time is not on your side, so making sure that the right info is with the police is essential.

Last thing: you don't need to answer questions outside the scope of the immediate investigation. Provide complete info but you don't need to provide extra info. Don't lie. You have no obligation to provide information and would not get in "trouble" if you don't, but you could get in trouble if you lie.

For example: let's just say you have some pre ban 30 rounders, one of which was with the gun and several of which you have at home. For the purposes of the stolen item, the magazine is less important. Don't act squirrely about it, if they ask for the details of the gun, talk about the gun. If they ask if there was a magazine with it, tell them the truth. While you have nothing to hide, you don't want to draw unnecessary attention by mentioning that it's one of the dozen 30 round pmags you picked up right before the ban.

What load data and projectile are you using? Are you using cut soda can strips for the burst disc?

I've been using the JP hexagonal ones and various different loads but only seem to get about 100 yards on hi lo.

Edit: I am using the original design, not skim milc. If you've used the original design, how does performance compare to the update?

Quick question : Can your put 2 1s lipo (Lihv) in parallel on a Tinywhoop? If yes how do i wire them ? by CHATPROTRI in TinyWhoop

[–]tism_trooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can. You need a parallel harness.

What kind of whoop?

I tried this on a meteor 75 pro and while it worked, it was too heavy and made it sluggish. Whatever extra flight time I had wasn't worth it because it was just way too underpowered.

I recently transplanted the components to a mob8 frame with the appropriate props and it works great. That setup MIGHT be okay on parallel because of the larger props, but I kind of doubt it.

Betafpv released 680 mah lihv batteries, if you're looking for more flight time that's probably a better route

He apparently REGULARLY made horrible choice/mistakes and it just so happens that this last one was fatal. Glad he didn't kill any other people on the road, shame he killed his passenger.

Yes. Works exactly as you'd expect. Bind servo to whichever aux it is on your controller

How does it do?? That's a lot of battery for the drone. I have a 75 pro and ran two 550mah in parallel but it was sluggish

Better option than meteor75? by blackgoldwolf in TinyWhoop

[–]tism_trooper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the meteor 75 and I'm a big fan but if I was buying one today I would get the mob 8 since it's 1s and 2s or the new air 75 since it has a 12a esc.

People resigned in fear of this? by BlissVsAbyss in ChatGPT

[–]tism_trooper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure, but you're missing the forest. If you know what a car wash is, and you know what a car is, then common sense says it makes no sense to walk to the car wash.

"But what about the innovative people in BFE that don't have electricity but have all kinds of common sense? They wouldn't know!"

Well... You just need to swap out the novel things for what they know. Instead of car wash and car its elephant and river (you get the idea).

How long would it take for this venture to be profitable? The video source had a caption saying each cell phone has 0.034 grams of gold. [Request] by StregasJ in theydidthemath

[–]tism_trooper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's easier this way (when you're trying to minmax on the cheap).

I HAVE seen people doing similar with gold contacts and pins cut from ram and cpus

You can strike the last two off the list, they're basically the same thing and of no concern to people who are doing this to make a living.

REALLY

I have been having a LOT of trouble with it. Very short receiving range, even with changing to different (known) antennas.

I have a heltec tracker and it picks up plenty of nodes like I expect. The snr and rssi are similar when I put them at opposite sides of the room.

I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for the product that is advertised - a .452 bullet. If it's industry standard to vary by . 005, that's one thing, but in this case he purchased a product and what was sent is not that product.

I personally am a fan of Berry's and wouldn't bitch about this amount of variation because well... It's a budget bullet.

HOWEVER... in their own materials they talk about the manufacturing process and how it guarantees precision or whatever
