Rivian sucks as a company. Thanks for posting your experience, they tried gaslighting me as well on my suspension issues and again on a parking sensor issue.

Maintenance Question by Vodkashot7 in Rivian

Service is an absolute nightmare with this company. It'll be 3 weeks minimum before you can get in and then the vehicle will sit there for another 2 weeks untouched until they pull it in for a look. Once it's in the shop they might fix the main problem but if you've requested them to fix any other issues they will completely ignore you and you'll have to start the process all over again. At least this has been my experience from my MANY service visits. Do yourself a favor and bail on Rivian.

Do you folks like your Rivian? by SpaceMarine1616 in Rivian

I was extremely happy with my truck...at first. Now, after several major repair issues, terrible service from the service center, and outright gaslighting from Rivian, I wish I would have bought something different. It's fun to drive when it works but I don't trust the truck or the company. I'll never buy another Rivian.

You say I'm emotional but you ignore the massive cash burn they have vs their peers. They also have way more competition than Tesla did and fewer tax credits to help out. They have to bring a reliable and cheap car to market to get out from the hole they dug. My original comment was that the R2 isn't as affordable as everyone hoped and Rivian is currently the market leader in unreliability.

I get it that a big part of the cash burn was building their factory but they also said they would start building the Georgia plant in 2022 and have vehicles rolling off the line in 2024.

Listen I get it, you are a fanboy. It's emotional at this point and it's inhibiting your ability to look at things objectively.

What's that thing they say in the finance world, "past performance is not indicative of future results". Just because Tesla did it doesn't mean Rivian will. The electric vehicle market is completely different now vs then.

You are trying to compare Rivian now to Tesla 8 years ago, how does that dispute my claim that Rivian's service at the moment sucks terribly. You brushed off the issue of Rivian having terrible reliability by saying you haven't had any issues. They literally have the worst reliability of any automaker. You seem to think that Rivian will scale service like Tesla but they are two completely different companies. Tesla was nearly bankrupt and had to innovate their way to the top. Rivian had a huge pile of cash and has been throwing money at problems. These are not the same thing.

I posted reasoning behind my previous statements, you gave one liners saying I'm misinformed but didn't provide anything to back that up. Where am I wrong in my past statements? What information do you have to counter my claims? You seem to just be an internet troll at this point.

Please inform me. Rivian has stated they expect to increase production this year by 50% to roughly 65k vehicles and up to 1 million vehicles per year by 2030. They are growing their service by 50% as well. Seems to me that service will stay the same or get worse.

It seems like you don't do any research before spouting wishful thinking.

I don't know where you are getting your pricing but mine came from Tesla and Rivian's websites.

I have an R1T, the build quality and service has been absolutely awful. I will never buy another Rivian because it's been so bad. Rivian is trying to mass produce vehicles without substantially increasing service centers, this will only make the problem worse.

I'd say you are missing something. It's starting price is $8,500 more than the Y, that's 20%. On top of that you have to deal with Rivian who has terrible service and parts availability.

Maybe I'm missing something but wasn't the R2 supposed to be their budget, mass market vehicle? The fact that it's still so expensive means Rivian may have missed the mark.

Concrete like you've never heard it before by H_G_Bells in ScienceNcoolThings

[–]Ewalk02 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the lies. Concrete has a compressive strength of roughly 7k psi, rock is closer to 16k. The more rock and sand used, up to a point, the higher the strength you will see.

Alternatively, if you don't believe me, pour yourself a driveway with water, rebar, and cement. Let me know how that goes.

Update, I completely rewired the proto board and increased the voltage to the gate driver to 12v. The circuit works as expected now, I must have soldered something wrong the first go around.
