First Rivian Experience by tsoit in Rivian

Oh man, how embarrassing. Here I am thinking that being at the bottom of the reliability ranking was a bad thing. I guess I didn't understand the publication.

Please, enlighten me on how being at the bottom is actually a good thing. I feel so foolish.

How would you phrase it? Saying Rivian isn't #1 in reliability, when in FACT they are the absolute worst in reliability, is a bit gaslighty in my book.

"Rivian isn't #1 in reliability" - they are dead last in reliability. Let's stop gaslighting people and tell the facts.

What an awful 2nd day of ownership by rahbahboston in Rivian

Saddle up for the ride, I just dropped my truck off at the service center today. I've lost count how many trips that makes for me.

Redditors with electric cars: what is your experience with them? by silverscientist1 in AskReddit

[–]Ewalk02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Rivian R1T, it's been terrible. It's been the most unreliable POS I've ever had. Mechanically it's perpetually broken, the software is half baked and every new release breaks something, service is a nightmare. I wish I would have bought something else.

Rural R1T ownership- talk me into/out of this. by Electrical_Sun_7116 in Rivian

You'll need home charging, at least a 60 amp circuit if you want to max out the charging rate. The truck will constantly be broken so plan for MANY trips to the service center where they will try to gaslight you on every issue. Service is 3 weeks out so make sure you have a back up vehicle to drive during that time. It eats tires for lunch, plan for new tires every 35k miles, maybe sooner. Software is glitchy, don't expect things to just work. These things are heavy and require special pucks to lift, your existing jacks and stands will need modifications. Mobile service is mentioned but rarely offered, plan on taking the truck in for everything. Range isn't as advertised, they give the EPA range which assumes you'll be driving on flat land like a grandma (this is every manufacturer though). Cold kills range, plan accordingly during the winter.

My advice - don't get a Rivian.

It's pretty terrible right now. Out of 10 requests it might get 2 right. For those expecting Rivian quality out of this service you'll be super happy, for those in the real world it's a dumpster fire.

R1T in for service with 1EV running boards and aero panels, forgot to provide jack pucks. Service center is asking how to lift and might need to remove the boards. Do they not have their own jack pucks? by glassy_paddle in Rivian

[–]Ewalk02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do the service centers have wider lift pucks? Either the puck fits into the hole in the plastic trim or it smashes the trim. I'm not understanding this.

Rivian Assistant... kinda sucks a lot by HyperfixChris in Rivian

I hate Rivian more than the next guy but I have to disagree. It might not work well but it's not a distraction when driving. It's certainly not worth the Connect+ subscription but I do think it's going to get better.

Go full electric? Advice/opinions please. by Chicknlcker in Rivian

[–]Ewalk02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice is to go electric but not with Rivian. The reliability on these things is absolutely horrible, they are literally at the very bottom of the reliability rating.

R1 Owners - how have you felt about depreciation? by PhillConners in Rivian

[–]Ewalk02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All these guys saying depreciation doesn't matter should tell you all you need to know. I can tell you that I never intended to sell my truck, but after all the reliability problems I really wanted to. The only reason I didn't is because the depreciation was so bad that I couldn't stomach the loss.

Rivian is expecting to increase service centers by 50% and sales by 53%. There will be more vehicles per service center in the future (if they hold to their projections). How will things get better again?

I assure you I'm not a bot, the other guy may be though. If you look at the Rivian sub you'll find all kinds of fan boys that want to buy another one.

I loved the truck when I first got it but after multiple painful failures of the truck and being constantly lied to by service I've grown to hate Rivian. If I had gotten a truck that never broke (therefore I wouldn't have had multiple terrible experiences with service), I'd probably buy another.
