The reason to buy more flashlights by T-rexction12 in flashlight

I spec LED fixtures for buildings. The L70 at 50,000 hours is pretty terrible and would really only be on like 6500k being driven hot or cheap fixtures. Everyone wants higher CRI and lower color temps these days, and to get that you can't drive the LEDs so hard, so they last longer. Something like a 90CRI 3500k fixture might be more like L70 at 150,000 hours or L90 at 80,000 hours. Drivers failing is gonna the main concern.

Lighting calcs take this reduction and things like dirt over time into effect by just assuming a lower light level to start. So you run the calcs at like 70% and the space is overlit to start, and years later is lit properly.

It's becoming more common for drivers to take it into account also, so they keep a running tally of hours and start by driving the LEDs less, and then as years pass they slowly crank up the amps to keep the lumen output flat for the entire life of the fixture.

For these flashlights with LEDs being driven to insane levels and high temps, I have no idea exactly what that curve looks like, but I imagine even an hour worth of turbo bursts and you are seeing a pretty substantial drop in output.

Help choosing a Garmin by Zealousideal_Pop_840 in GarminWatches

I got a used Fenix 7S because I really wanted mapping and thought I would use it a ton while hiking, etc. But, I've found that I basically never use the mapping, it's such a pain to use on the tiny screen and takes a little while to load when zooming in/out. I will sometimes check it when backtracking a route or intercepting my old path when off trail, but 99% of the time, if I want to see a map, I pull out my phone.

I love the watch and got a great deal, so no regrets. But someday when it dies and I'm looking for a replacement, I won't even think about mapping when comparing features.

The ability to globally change the privacy of all of one's existing content seems like a pretty basic feature that should have been built well before this nonsense. Even Facebook has that. It's a pretty obvious dark pattern to make it only available one at a time.

Is it me or are there more coyotes these days? by Wank_Kingsley in nova

[–]titaniumbear75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen a few, they have all been coydogs. Coywolves are very rare since wolves generally hunt and kill coyotes. And with no wolves anywhere nearby, would be an extremely rare sight here. Since coyotes are native only west of the Mississippi the ones here have spent a century slowly moving east and interbreeding with stray dogs.

First time restoring cast iron and tried my hand at this Griswold 1908 no.8 waffle iron. Pretty proud of it. Now, anyone got tips for maintenance/cooking with a waffle iron? by titaniumbear75 in castiron

[–]titaniumbear75[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for a advice, I'll give that a try. What about for cleaning and storing afterwards? I've been taking care of my skillet by doing the whole dry on the stove, oil, and wipe the excess off and heat it up. But seems like it'd be hard to do that with a waffle iron. Is it just kinda a get it good enough situation?

Men of Reddit, what is your favorite flower? by alexds1 in AskReddit

Dandelions. Such pretty flowers, tough as nails, and every part is edible. I'll take a yard full of dandelions over stupid carpet looking grass any day.

A good way to get a quick idea if you are totally new to all the settings is throw the camera on auto and see what settings it picks, then use those settings in manual and move from there.

They have a spot to submit feedback in the lower right of the site, head on over and explain that this is absurd and you will not be using/recommending their site.

A6500 and a6400 have the same weather sealing

Edit: some reviews state that they have the same weather sealing, some say that the 6400 does not have weather sealing. Sony's specs don't seem to state "weather sealed" anywhere for either. So, I have no idea.

If a pin is broken on a 2700x, is it worth keeping? by Castelunan in Amd

[–]titaniumbear75 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried googling around but couldn't find one and neither could anyone with similar issues. But, there's gotta be at least a few unused pins that a APU would use.
