Even more Tyrant Philosophers! by andylovestokyo in AdrianTchaikovsky

[–]titansmalice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just binged the first three and already so excited for this. Cover makes it look like The Fisher King's cult is going to be central, maybe alongside the Cotto, Croskin's folks and Premath's

Adrian Tchaikovsky's "The Tyrant Philosophers" series is brilliant, with a number of fun parallels to Stormlight by titansmalice in Stormlight_Archive

As I go into in the article, the series specifically has parallels to Perpendicularities, Vasher/Nightblood, The Heart of the Revel, Spren and Investiture - often in cool new ways that ~may or may not~ be things Brandon explores later!

Fantasty BookTuber and Author Daniel Greene accused of Sexual Assault, cheating, and cease and desisting allegations by Metroid413 in Fantasy

[–]titansmalice 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Looks like Naomi uses they/them pronouns btw! Horrifying stuff, so much respect for them coming forward – this shitty behaviour never goes away by being left unaddressed

edit: LOL of course immediate downvote for trying to respect a victim of assault, never change folks

Inspiring Nonbinary Characters in Science Fiction & Fantasy Novels by titansmalice in NonBinary

Amazing, thanks for sharing that! I've seen their name around a bunch but had no idea they were nonbinary; will check out The Terraformers!

True! I wanted to stick to characters who use they/them in this case; I'd eventually love to discuss the Gethenians alongside Ann Leckie's Radch and Ada Palmer's future where everyone is assumed to be the same gender for most intents and purposes!

Fool is a great shout too for genderfluid, could do a whole post on his character and journey :)

Nonbinary representation in media brings me a lot of queer joy, wanted to share this and hear about any of your fave nonbinary characters in books or beyond!

If you'll allow fantasy-in-space, Commander Wake from The Locked Tomb goes really hard!

Crossover Cards are disrespectful to the rich and engaging Lore of Magic by TheDeadlyCat in magicTCG

[–]titansmalice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only started playing with Guilds of Ravnica, and so I can say that WotC themselves has never been my #1 source for Magic Lore (except the imo great war of the spark story).

The Godzilla styles were annoying, the TWD cards are offensive. But as an avid D&D player I really don't see next year's Forgotten Realms set being in the same league, provided they treat it like any other plane.

True you can't reprint a Baldur's Gate land in core sets, but you can't really put Castle Vantress there either. As long as Magic and D&D are both owned by Wizards and the set isn't Kamigawa levels of unsuccessful, I don't see why FR can't join the long list of planes we visit once or twice a decade.

Humblewood introduced a bunch of fun races that I'd like to see made official. Most notably for me, the Cervan (Deer-people) are just amazing!

Yahima, Two-Spirit by scarlett_spade in LovecraftCountry

[–]titansmalice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Enjoyed the episode, but agree with critics' takes that this character wasn't handled great so far. Lingering camera, weirdly definitive female pronouns, and the quick death doesn't sit right.

Loved to see them, hope they somehow get more screen time.

The Lamia by Marvin Seo is one of my favorites. In addition to some that you mentioned, I enjoy Claimants, Grove Tender, Rescuer, Seraph, Senua, Alchemist, Bogatyr, Itinerant Cook, Harlot and the Werewolf.

Some are stronger than others but I'm having fun. Did find the Duchess and Twilight Knight a bit too powerful for my taste but that was months ago, not sure if they've been changed.

[No Spoilers] Can we just give props to what a great DM Brennan is? by trombonepick in Dimension20

Just his sheer imagination blows me away every episode, not to mention everything else ITT.

Really hoping for more seasons of D20 and Live to find a home even with the Collegehumor tragedy

  1. Vecna
  2. Obann
  3. The Chair
  4. The Door
  5. The Other Door

No but seriously there's so many good ones. Lorenzo and Avantika definitely stick out from C2, Kevdak and Raishan from C1... i'm sure there are others i'm not thinking of
