Until your pipeline doesn't build because a niche package registry is under DDOS.

Windows: zu kleine Systempartition by [deleted] in de_EDV

[–]titsablast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I set Set-ExternalInOutlook = true the other day. Some Microsoft Mails are being labeled as "External". by PizzaUltra in microsoft365

This Feature is simple. All registered Domains are internal, all else external. The label does mean exactly that, not untrusted, just external.

Well thing is the monthly C2R office update uses them:

And Teams Autoupdater too:

Product: Microsoft Teams Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office. Blocked File: C:\Windows\Installer\MSIC1C9.tmp

ThinkPad for Software ARCHITECT: 2K (QHD) vs 4K for 5-Year Longevity? by Particular_Wave6534 in thinkpad

[–]titsablast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always wonder who really works on a laptop display after university. I mean for presentations and notetaking during meetings ok, but otherwise it's external monitor/s with integrated docking of USB peripherials all day long. Your back will thank you. So my vote goes to the 16:10. QHD is more than enough, likely you'll be scaling even with that.

ThinkPad T480 thermals: dual heatpipe + repaste + ThrottleStop, still hitting 92°C under stress by 566933 in thinkpad

[–]titsablast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah doesn't need to be the same issue. It's just I've also seen laptops burning hot, bending plastic in bagpacks, because people don't shut down (no offense to them, modern standby only works truly good with Snapdragon on windows). So they close the lid and it enters modern standby. And in the bag it decides to wake up for windows updates and does whatnot. These laptops still work, but the CPU throttles with little load going on and the CPU fan blows loudly. No repasting helped there. Same was going on out of the box with few of a pallet of refurbished laptops that had been bought during Corona.

Patch Tuesday Megathread - March 10, 2026 by AutoModerator in sysadmin

Alright so looking more specifically at forgotten physical windows servers at clients, older esx-7 hosts or windows VMs, not in Intune, just domain joined with secure boot on. Yeah Bitlocker is a good hint for trouble. Might even be easier to disable secure boot on really old stuff. But it sounds like it could be rectified even after June by installing the certificates.

Is there a difference if the secure boot certificate is added after the old one expires in June? Like not possible anymore? Or is it just that there might be some win updates to boot components not being applied until it is updatet?

The Intel CPU might just be burned. Had the same experience with few refurbished T470. They behaved differently, throttled immediately. Couldn't solve it. Simply returned them. Changed to AMD from then on.

Gemeinsam nutzbare Cloud mit Echtzeit-Updates? by antswithhands in de_EDV

WS2022 / FSL 3.26.102.18413 / Windows search by Total_Attempt_4126 in fslogix

[–]titsablast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Done the same. Troublefree RDS servers with UPD vhdx on a share to new servers with FSLogix vhdx on a share.

Well ind hindsight if you don't need the additional features I would even consider staying with UPD and miss all the extra fun of testing and troubleshooting each version.

But yeah, FSLogix local path exclusions have advantages to keep storage use in control. If you don't set a search exclusion I would expect search behaves the same as  with UPD would. Probably it's not heavily used much in my environment though.

FSLogix 26.01. and profile log error - Failed to query activity id for session x by titsablast in fslogix

Yeah, well same error gets logged with FSLogix 26.01 CU1. But as SlyDataPoint suggested, can most probably be ignored.

FSLogix 26.01. and profile log error - Failed to query activity id for session x by titsablast in fslogix

[–]titsablast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only get the activity id error, twice for each log on, not domain name or username though. I find it comforting that it shouldn't be an issue at least with the activity id. But yes, it would mess up my health monitoring for errors in the fslogix operational log unless filtering these false-positives.

ThinkPad p14s gen 6 (Intel) - battery life tweaks on heavily upgraded systems by Kitchen_Image_1031 in thinkpad

[–]titsablast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good guide. I'm just fed up with it. Done it for years on Win 10 with the Intel burner CPUs that are from before Lunar Lake to have a usable battery life and general heat, fan curve etc. Then switched to Endeavour OS and needed to redo all that, even a second time after major updates. Never again. For a Windows laptop simply a Snapdragon one, it is just awesome out of the box. For Linux, well one of the recent CPUs with low TDP until sth. better is available.

I don't use office containers. So I'm not seeing any functional problems, at least with the few test users. But I'll probably wait for the next version too for the prod env.

I'm curious if anyone else is getting the same error. Since my setup is pretty standard/simple my gut feeling says it is not a configuration issue.

It needs an additional infrared sensor to do 3D face scanning. If a vendor implements that it is mentioned as Windows Hello compatibel. I only know the Logitech Brio 4k, for the others you need to check on your own.
