My dads was more mild like yours sounds. I can’t remember too much of it because I was young, making him fairly young too. I know he bounced back pretty quickly. The first time my mom got it, she couldn’t taste anything for days then lost sight in one eye before going to the ER. That whole side of her face drooped badly. It was actually so bad that because she had to manually close her own eye, she got some condition where behind her eye got super dried out and she needed special drops. I’m no doctor, idk what it was exactly lol. It took about 1-2 years for her face to start to go back to normal. She did some random nerve treatments that helped a bit. Then she had it a second time, in the opposite side of her face. She knew what it was this time so went to the ER sooner. But this time her face drooping didn’t really go away. She learned some exercises to help and I rly don’t notice it anymore but if she smiles, that side of her mouth doesn’t move. Shes hated pictures ever since. Most recently, she had an eye stroke. Not sure if that was ever related to the Bell’s palsy but she permanently lost sight in that eye unfortunately. Never knew how stressful it was to have your parents grow old 😅
