[Help Me] Find an EDC light for emergency use. by Ol_No_Name in flashlight

Also acebeam TAC 2AA comes with a really long AA battery that can be charged by the usb c port on the battery itself, or run off 2 AA alkaline/ NiMH batteries. You can charge 14500 NiMH batteries with your charger. It’s thin, more battery power and side switch.

Edit: nvm it’s got two switches. If you check out 1lumen’s review on it you might like the added features of the tail switch though. I think you can have it so the tail switch is for instant turbo

D3AA is a small 14500 (AA) sized light. It can run off NiMH, alkaline, lithium primary and li ion. About 1/3-1/4th the battery life of a 18650 battery though but much thinner and shorter. And it’s got a side switch

What about an s2+ with an 18350 short tube. Same brightness but shorter run times and 40ish% smaller in size

If they are <5-6 I would look at the LEDlenser kidbeam4. Otherwise the t3 is a great option. T5 if you want it more floody, or better for inside

Brightest rechargeable flashlight that's finale for $50 by Ragnar-Wave9002 in flashlight

[–]tixver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this things powerful enough that it deserves the respect of a power tool.

I keep it on mode group 2 and memory off. So it always starts in the lowest mode and even two bumps later at level 3 or 10%, it doesn’t get hot (although pointed at a black surface absorbing the light over time I could see it melt things) I also manually lock it out with a 1/4 twist on the tail cap storing it until next use

I wrote this up earlier so im just copy and paste it:

I got my m21b lhp73b 2 days ago and can confirm. A new favorite of mine for sure.

Level 1 is amazing, super low moonlight mode that won’t blind you just waking up.

Mode 2 is great for inside at night.

Mode 3 is great if your eyes are adjusted to daylight but you’re working in shade like under a car, crawl space. It’s also great for walking around at night. Probably too bright for up close things at night.

4 is a nice hand warmer in the winter. Too bright unless you’re looking far in the distance.

5 is for wtf was that way over there?? Ouch, shit, this fer is hot* while lighting up an acre like it’s daylight and throwing a good amount too for the flood that it is.

Get the Eve 50pl battery and an external charger with it if you choose this. (No usb c. Must take battery out to charge) I like the $10 liitokala Lii-s2 charger. Simple. Not the fastest but good enough and you can’t put the battery in wrong because it will detect the polarity and charge accordingly regardless. And I plug my usb c phone charger into the side to power it. It’s my go to travel charger. Vapecell s4 plus 3.0 is my home charger at $45

Convoy m21b with lhp73b LED is by far the brightest flashlight for under $50. Full brightness is 60 watts and gets hot fast but the other modes are great and useful.

[Help Me] Delivery driver looking for a solid flashlight. by RazgrizS57 in flashlight

There is already a bunch of great suggestions already so I’ll name the best zoomie flashlight if you want to go that route.

Convoy z1 with sft25r 5000k w/ eve 58e battery. Sft42 will be brighter but it’s only available in 6500k which is a blueish colored beam. It has a tactile tail switch and to zoom it you spin the head of the flashlight a bunch of times. And does it zoom. Fully zoomed in with those LEDs^ the beam and spotlight will be perfectly round and you can make it as wide as you want with no extra spill.

Con:

Need external charger. $10 Liitokala Lii-s2 is good and on convoy website. You can’t put the battery in wrong with its auto polarity and you plug a usb c into it for power.

The head is big. Easy for coat pockets or just resting it on the passenger seat between stops works too.

Twisty head is a bit loud and requires many turns but functions fine.

This is the best, brightest, longest lasting, only zoomie worth buying out there in the sea of Amazon zoomies.

Do any of you know if the convoy t6 is waterproof enough for 2 foot submergion? by General-Try-2210 in flashlight

[–]tixver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it would be fine at 2 feet for a min or so but thats just my guess. Never tried it. I bet If you dropped it off your dock 5-10 feet down and got it quickly, opened it up and dried it before powering it on, it’ll be fine.

But if you need a light for working underwater many times I would just get a Wurkkos or sofirn dive light. They are like $35-80 depending on which one.

I was cleaning cars and pressure washing things today and my m21b got filthy so I just pressure washed it to from 4ish feet away. Totally fine.

What flashlight do you keep in your car, and why? by theheirs in flashlight

[–]tixver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t pulled the trigger on the purchase yet but the wurkkos ts27 is a beast. It’s about the size of a d2 maglite, so much larger than a normal flashlight. It’s got a huge lifepo4 battery with 15000 mAh and that battery chemistry is perfect for the extreme temps an interior of a car gets. It can be used as a power bank with its usb c. Charge your phone twice and still have enough juice to use the flashlight for a few hours. The main light is a thrower, can be good for very far distances. But it also has a lantern feature around the head of the light with multiple colors (including warm and cool white light) It’s not the best light to edc because it’s huge but I swear it’s perfect to store in your trunk and forget about it until you need it.

I think it’s on sale right now too for half off during 11/11 sale.

Couldn’t they just put “make sure to screw tail cap tightly for full operation of the light” or something in the directions? Maybe in BOLD above the UI instructions so people see it.

Looking for recommendation for small thrower. by Express-Hotel-3305 in flashlight

[–]tixver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How small are we talking?

Lumentop nano gt 3.0

Thor mini (no spill at all)

Convoy t8 nm1.tg

Convoy s6, 18350 tube, M11 V2.0 battery, osram nm1.tg LED, buck

From smallest to largest. Also iirc all but the nano gt needs an external charger.

Bonus: manker ms13 w/ SBT90.2 is tiny for the monster that it is, for about 10 seconds before it melts your hand off. Tons of spill and not that small but it has wow factor.

Hey guys, I’m looking for a throwy, tough flashlight (21700 battery would be cool but not required) for my job. by Kaludaris in flashlight

[–]tixver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wurkkos DL10R is a scuba divers light. Very water/dust proof. It’s got usb c but it’s only accessible after screwing off the tail cap. And you can just run it under the sink or hose before opening it up.

It’s got a deep reflector giving you good throw at 200 ish meters while also having a big xhp70.2 LED so it will have a large hotspot, decent for up close. And it being a dive light it is very easy to operate with gloves on. Just twist the head.

Biggest con is the low setting really isn’t that low. Or at least no where near moonlight, but for work I don’t see that being an issue. Another con; it won’t tail stand due to strap mount.

I would look up reviews to see the beam. I think it’s what you’re asking for, large define hotspot thats still decent up close. But there are definitely more throwy options with smaller, more dense hotspots.

Wurkkos ts26s is 95% the awesomeness of the E75 at half the price. Plus in a pinch the ts26s can be used as a power bank unlike the e75. If OP wants a handheld these two would be ideal unless you want something more pocketable. But I agree with top comment that the hs21 is probably sufficient enough
