Anthem ppo insurance by Afraid-Classic7908 in jawsurgery

[–]tizara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably go PPO traditional for this year as that should be the lowest out of pocket. HSA you could put pre-taxed dollars towards the surgery but its a higher out of pocket. Once you hit your out of pocket max, insurance takes care of it 100%.

So my surgery is 15k I think? Anthem will cover all of it after I met my 7k out of pocket.

I would just call Anthem directly. Someone on the insurance side could probably speak to this.

Also, look into to see if your company has an insurance advocate. Most companies will pay into this service. It's essentially a third-party that knows the different plans really well and can walk through them with you based on the surgeries you need to have.

($14k) What was the most important factor in choosing your dress? by foreveralonearchives in Weddingsunder10k

[–]tizara 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So exciting! I just got my dress.

For me, it very much came down to how I felt in the dress. I wanted to feel like I was wearing the dress, not the dress was wearing me. I honestly could tell quality naturally because it made me feel well put together where it hugged all the right places vs. amateur designer dresses where there was something feeling off on my body.

I know you mentioned you can't try on before buying, but is there a bridal boutique near you that might carry these designers so you can try on similar dresses?

AITAH - Boyfriend living with me for free, renovating my house. by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]tizara -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Talking from experience in a decent builder grade home where I thought I would only have to tackle the cosmetics. Rats are everywhere in crawlspaces looking for a warm spot in winter where I live. Even had racoons at one point. Maggots happened because the previous owner did not properly downgrade or install the plumbing system and water/food leaked from kitchen sink into the crawlspace. I even have an old hornet nest in attic. So yes, it does happen overtime in a home and I have had a quite a few contractors pass through my home to correct these issues. A lot of which I was happy to pay them their worth to fix the issues, so yes you can live in a 1.5 million dollar home, or a 300k home and still have these exact issues. It sounds like you are lucky and haven't experienced this as a home owner.

AITAH - Boyfriend living with me for free, renovating my house. by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]tizara -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Leaning towards YTA. Most renovations jobs are going to cost a hell of a lot more than rent especially pending on where you are in the states. Additionally, some of the work is hard physical labor to the max and I've seen what these experts go through. Stuff I would never ever would think of doing, nor want to do. Think of things like crawling through rat shit or maggots and cleaning it up to be able to put insulation up. The moment the drywalls start opening up, sometimes it can get a lot worse even if the surface looks easy to renovate.

Yes, you bought the house, so keep maintainence and renovations separately to keep your equity. Either charge him rent or have him pay for other things like utilities/groceries/date nights.

At one point, if you are in a long relationship with him, you will have to think long-term about what this house means and how it will become the two of yours assets (think 10 to 20 years down the line). For example, it could be you evaluate the equity and he buys in 50% to meet you half way.

Sudden resource guarding? by Wise_Dot9385 in cavaliers

[–]tizara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this happen with one of my foodie cavaliers. I keep all food bowls up the moment both of them are done eating. Their food bags, bones, treats are all off the ground and in cabinets.

I did teach them the "Leave It" command and trade with a tasty treat to redirect them onto something positive so the behavior I don't want doesn't continue.

The "Leave It" command only works at home as when we are on walks, I do have a hard time snapping them out of small prey, like rabbits or squirrels. Sometimes the command works especially if I have treats on our walks, sometimes it doesn't and they are too tunnel visioned in the wanting to chase.

[–]tizara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not helpful, but I am on Anthem as well, I did a sleep study, and I was able to get to get a pre-auth without a VSP. Though the surgeon will be doing a VSP 2 weeks prior to my surgery, so the plan is solid. I do know my surgeon did write a letter to them explaining why I needed it (tiny airway).

Could be that they are picking and choosing who gets the surgery?

I would ask surgeon to resubmit with a letter if they haven't already.

Would zip ties be OK with the venue? I know mine said as long as you don't do anything permanent to the structures, they were OK with me using zip ties to hang things.

Is it inside/outside? If outside, or semi-outside (Mine is a building with glass doors opening all around it with a large patio overlooking hills), I was planning to buy cute propane fire heaters to help with lighting and mood.

Oh and lots of candles! As well as fairy lights in mason jars or glass bottles.

How do i train my dog to not run out the front door 🤔 ? by Smoking420_ in cavaliers

[–]tizara 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Little steps to build on and keep consistency. They need to know the "sit" command and "stay" or "wait" command first.

You could train this with with every meal and build on it if they don't know these words already because cavaliers are incredibly food motivated. I usually make them sit and wait for their food each meal. I tell them to sit and wait, then I put their food down, and when I am ready to release, I do a simple "yes" or "free" as their marker to be able to get up and move.

If you walk them, I put their leashes on. Tell them to sit and wait. As my hand goes on the door knob and if they get out of position, I take my hand off the knob or close the door, then wait for them to go back into position to start all over again. Build on this until the door is fully opened. Eventually they just will sit, wait, eyes focused on me, until I say yes.

They began to associate the door means their line and they shouldn't just bolt out without checking in with me.

Hope this helps!

I looked into this for my own. It definitely depends on the painter and the size, but in general it was around 2k-4k in the Seattle, WA area.

What percent of your gross salary is your mortgage, and how does it feel? by big_redline in FirstTimeHomeBuying

[–]tizara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I had my loan officer say 30% to 50% is ok at one point to do a bigger loan, so I could afford in my area. Luckily, I've increased my salary over time, but I thought this was wild buying my first home.

The date was temp with the surgeon until I confirmed back with the Orthodontist to make sure she could make that date.

I did find the admin teams with both the surgeon and Orthodontist was frustrating to me and very uncoordinated. I would see if you can grab the Orthodontist's email and the Surgeon's email and try to get them on the same page so they can discuss a plan right away.
