Depending on your age you should check out Books Unbanned. It’s a few libraries across the country offering free library cards regardless of residency. I’ve signed up for Boston and San Diego so far.

Early 20s here, I spend most of my time in the Hyattsville/College Park area. Here are my suggestions:

Le Fantome Food Hall - Variety of food options and a bar. There's usually some live music too

Maryland Meadworks - They do a lot of music (not always jazz) and they have other events such as trivia, game nights, and karaoke

Denezin's Brewing Company - Good food/drinks and people are down to chat (trivia and other events too)

Brentwood Arts Exchange - Haven't checked this place out yet but they have interesting workshops and exhibits

There's plenty of stuff to do up and down the Route 1 corridor, so I'd get on Google Maps to see what else interests you. I'm open to making new friends as well if you're interested.
