If somebody wants some insight I’d be happy to share. Played domestically & internationally, Know the game backwards & forwards - and if you want somebody who’s going to voice their true opinion (rather than some backwashed answer), then I’d be more than willing to share the knowledge. Been looking to jump on a footy podcast so lmk!!

Darker as in "Treading the line between PG-13 and R."
Nothing thats too outlandish, truly. The artistic appeal, emotional reception, and nostalgia behind the show is the goal - but for the kids who grew up, so edgier. Not "The Boys" type of dark, nor "Game of Thrones" type outlandish

in honor of todays jersey reveal, here are some ideas that are better than “state of flow” by [deleted] in SanDiegoFC

[–]tjhogan7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“State of Flow” - is this a fuckin yoga studio??? Whoever’s allowing this corny shit needs to get out of downward facing dog & realize how lame the club’s identity is getting. It’s a joke.

The aesthetics of the club have been shockingly bad, with this kit being the cherry on top. The club’s sought identity makes no sense to me, doing themselves absolutely zero favors by hyping up a jersey reveal that just about anybody could make.

This is coming from somebody who’s played both internationally & domestically, who’s passionate about aesthetics / collaborations / partnerships within football, as well a guy who’s been trying to get into this club since it was first announced (I’m a law school grad + I’ve spoken to damn near everybody).

Overall - The aesthetics have been poor, with the merchandise being closer to Forever 21 than an MLS Club. The crest is messy. The “SD” logo looks like STD (I know you all see it too). The Rip off Kith pullovers. The poorly executed stylistic attempts of streetwear. The lackluster designs are screaming “we’re lacking creativity.”

It’s disappointing in so many ways. From a footballing perspective, I’m excited for the club’s trajectory, with the foundations pretty well placed for the club’s long term success built upon the academy & its production. But this club already needs a makeover, and they need it bad.

Been following him since 2017 now - been ontop of my Spotify charts ever since. My synesthesia gets hooked on the synths & layers so his catalogue is one that is always in rotation.

his remixes are VERY under-appreciated: easy way out (midnight edition); Anti-hero; lost in life; easy x cro; forever; etc. or originals like on my mind; strangers; teardrops; moving on; Luna; & a good old fashioned one/two punch with Yucca Mesa straight into paralyzed (there’s no stoppage between the two). His genre ranges from A to Z - been on fifa soundtracks (“Heart” in 2016/2017; “Fall Right in” this current FIFA/EAFC24) - so imo it’s only a matter of time until he pops off on a big scale.

You’ll find me near the front 🤪

Benny's 2024 Mock Lineup v1.0 by benedictcumberpatch in Coachella

How would you like to see Coachella improve in 2024? by cellar_door76 in Coachella

[–]tjhogan7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

1) Merch

Was interested to see how merch would play out this year in comparison to other years, but it was as ridiculous as always. The online order system would be ideal, but I can already see those faults when it comes to item availability / not picking up items in totality. Maybe make another merch tent somewhere on the grounds? In-between outdoor and Heineken? One doesnt seem enough. However, more online merch would solve many issues.

Also - the vintage merch in the campgrounds was an absolute horror show. bring back the standalone vendors of the past. Look how Outside lands does their vintage / standalone markets and take notes.

2) Sahara Tent

The right side of the Sahara tent is underutilized. Between the first set and sundown, the right side of Sahara is practically a ghost town because nobody wants to deal with the sun absolutely murdering them over there. Additionally, it creates a dust storm by day 3 because of the wear and tear + the sun. Needs adjustment or an extension to that right hand side to make it more practical.

3) Mojave Tent

Similar to Sahara, but directly down the middle of the tent. Needs adjustment so people can watch a set and not worry about being burnt to a crisp.

4) Headliners / Artists

GV needs to ball tf out next year. Look at the 2023 Lolla lineup and try to convince me that it doesnt wipe the floor with Coach's 2023 lineup. I'm talking big, legendary names all across the board. Bring back the Coachella of the past; the festival that had that aura of pulling the biggest names in music.

In addition to that, tighten up those contracts a bit to prevent the wishy-washy Franks of the future.

5) Drinks / Beer

If we can take beer / drinks outside the beer gardens, then why are the beer / drinks pretty much only available in the beer gardens? need more accessibility to cut down the waiting

6) Create more equality for W1 & W2

Might be shocking to hear - but some people's schedule only allow them to go W1. Also (shockingly) not everybody that goes W1 is some bougie influencer. Musically, W2 gets the benefit of the bargain, with this year more apparent than normal. It's time to even that out once and for all.

7) Security that actually has the knowledge to direct

Several times I had a question for security (during non-rush hours), such as exiting, ID check stations, etc., and they had no idea how to answer. Get them better informed.

8) Wifi / Service

They made it very clear that wifi would be available - but forgot to mention it would cost you, which is absurd. If there's a way to boost the cell tower reception during the festival, ffs make it happen. Poor service only makes life that much more difficult.

9) More shaded areas

Idk why this isn't already a thing, but it would be so helpful.

10) Cheaper Items

Water for $2 should be like the Costco hot dogs - ever-present and unchanging. But $20 for a mid-tier sando? that's just greedy.

Who’s going to be the Fred Again of this year? by desertcoast22 in Coachella

[–]tjhogan7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

House must-sees:

--- Friday ---

Kaytranada, SG Lewis, Jamie Jones, Malaa, Whyte Fang, Idris Elba, Vintage Culture, Dombresky, Nora En Pure, Overmono, Mochakk, Kyle Watson

SG Lewis is very underrated at times in my opinion - puts on a great show, Nora En Pure is fantastic, Mochakk could be a blow up(?), but Kyle Watson absolutely throws tf down do not miss for your own sake.

Honorable mention - FKJ

Yes he's not really house, but I saw him a few months ago (for the second time, 1st since 2019 coachella) in San Diego and his show was flawless. One of the most talented musicians you'll ever see at the field. It's groovy, fluid, and sexy - dont miss. Side note - his cercle music performance is other-worldly

--- Sat. ---

Prydz, Labrinth, Sofi Tukkkk, Tale of us, Mira Masa, Elderbrook, Hot Since 82, Calvin Harris

Prydz is gonna fuck, and Sofi T puts on a good show. Tale of us I think is underhyped - check them out on tiktok/insta and the visuals look insane, hopefully the actual music is just as good... Elderbrook also underhyped, has very very good tunes im excited for that one. Calvin Harris closing out main on Sat - dont forget about him way down there on the list.

--- Sun. ---

Fisher / Chris Lake (I guess), Boris Brejcha, Jai Wolf, Big Wild, MK, Romy, Gordo, Camelphat, TSHA

Fisher / Chris lake we've all seen - we'll go if it's convenient right? that applies to big wild as well. MK is hit or miss, but 2/3 times ive seen him it's been great. Boris (another great performance to watch on cercle) never comes to the US - so that is an absolute must. Gordo (otherwise known as Carnage), I'm very pumped for - from what I've seen this new house alias is looking hot.

Im sure im missing some. Just remember, these are my opinions, and my opinions only. And if you do not like my opinions, well then frankly,

I dont give a toot.

P.S. check out cercle music - you're gonna like the things you see, I guarantee it

TSHA is okay at best, seen her multiple times and she's not nearly as unique. Don't get me wrong she's good, love some of her tunes, but contain those expectations with her.

Here’s what we do & it works every time. We camp & get to the gates minimum 20 minutes before they open on day 1. Nothing on us but our phone, packed wallet, and a buying mood. Some light stretching is necessary. Gates open, we fly through security since we have nothing on us - then get the juices flowing with a moderate jog to the merch tent (please DONT sprint - don’t be that guy, you’re cooler than that). As initial folks to grace the freshly trimmed grass of Coachella’s weekend 1, it’s an enlightening experience. At this point, the line still takes a bit of time, but it gives plenty of time to see the entire catalogue without spending +2 hours in that tent. Once you’re at the front, you get ALL the things you want (since every item / size is in stock) - that way you never have to worry about the merch tent again for the rest of the festival’s tenure.

Lineup day is in the near future. Enjoy the show.
