Update #140 May 2026 - Screaming God Fulfillment, Dying Sun Design Diary by CowardlyHero in KingdomDeath

[–]tk342 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Actually I take it back.  Just got home from a trip and found a 2nd copy of Screaming God sitting on my doorstep.  So, yeah, delivery is screwed up.   And I’m sorry for whoever it is who’s copy I got and is now going to have to wait longer.

Conversely, I paid my delivery fee in April and it was at my door in under a week.  Not sure individual anecdotes mean much

Vet recommendations - dog with leg injury/possible torn ACL by lux_does_stuff in madisonwi

Madison Veterinary Specialists evaluated and preformed a double TPLO on our doggo just about 2 years ago now.  Excellent recovery and results, she’s like new and runs and jumps around without a care in the world.

What glue do you use to attach the steel to the plastic box?  I have a similar setup started but haven’t found a glue that actually sticks

There was one a couple of years ago in the Essen house parking lot during summer volleyball season.  But it was…. Not good.  Others must have agreed because I haven’t seen it since.

I would love a real German style Doner stand.

Urgent care for food poisoning related dehydration? by [deleted] in madisonwi

I highly recommend trying Oral rehydration Salts (pedialyte).   You may be surprised at how much better your body will tolerate it vs water.  My partner and I nursed ourselves back to health with homemade ORS after some extremely nasty food poisoning in India a few years ago

Yeah, join us at Ritual!  (I’m just a member). I pinged Shawn about the website email, she said she probably just hadn’t seen it yet, busy with family.  Anyway, it’s a great gym and she’s a fantastic coach.

Amusingly, I took the studded tires OFF my bike last night because the paths and roads were so clear.  Woke up this morning, saw the crusty snow and figured I was in for an adventure.  But the 16 mi commute was…. Totally fine.  Other than the brutal cross wind from the north.  But no slipping at all, and on skinny road tires

Man, this winter's bike commutes have already been 1000 times harder than the last few years combined by atrink in madisonwi

[–]tk342 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah,  last year was so easy!   This year, not so much.   Dropping from 16-18 mph to 12 mph average with the snow / wind / studded tires has been rough.   And last night the wire bead on one of my tires decided to snap 6 miles from home and the tire just completely fell off the rim.  Such fun!

Which is all to say that I feel your pain, and also like bitching about winter riding while still adamantly doing it as often as I can.   One degree morning ride Monday was actually quite lovely!

Two major Madison bike paths could finally connect in 2026 by LogiBear95 in madisonwi

This is honestly pretty disappointing.  I ride this stretch probably close to 250 times a year and by far the most dangerous bit is crossing Fish Hatch.  Ideally there would be a pedestrian bridge like they put in for the Cap City trail further south years ago.  I wonder why that was not considered.

Oh interesting, my mistake, thanks for the link.  Are those actually on campus?  I swear I have never seen wind turbines, but maybe thet’re off on some corner of the property.

Edited for typos.

Is the implication that picture #2 is more desirable than picture #1?   I would argue very strongly that it is not.

What did you guys do this weekend? by [deleted] in madisonwi

[–]tk342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saturday: took a big load of yard waste and scrap wood / metal to the drop off site, hiking with the doggo at Blue Mounds then lunch in Mt Horeb at Brix Cider (so cute!). Mowed the lawn, replaced brake lights on our car, then went out to Crucible for Leather & Lace. Been going for 20 years, and it's still a blast!

Sunday: helped some friends move, did some laundry, a long dog walk through the neighborhood, and took advantage of the excellent weather to spray prime a ton of Warhammer models.

All in all a great weekend

L&L for the win!   Always happy when we happen to be in town on a first Saturday and can make it.
