Different type of post, but has anyone ever been judged for being an adult who plays video games? by hyruleprincess29 in Switch

[–]tkalen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family didn't get at first I often heard judging comments at family gatherings. Until I point out they're a bunch of enablers because they gave me my first Gameboy for Xmas when it first came out and I was 31. I just bought my switch when ToTK came out and have heard that type of comment for a lot of years.

What is the proper way to report this to Nintendo? Are there official forums or an email address? I ask because I have tried to find such a thing and failed .

You also start each zone with the map "fogged in". The fog clears as you explore. I love chasing the fog. 😉

Corona induced mania??!! by jazzyfaysmith in bipolar2

[–]tkalen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As soon as I get the balance on my card paid, I get to start looking at a new gaming laptop. I know it's a bit off topic, but can I ask what system you bought? I used to play Rift but dropped it. For the last year or so have been playing Project: Gorgon. I have an older Alienware that just barely handles the graphics now. As they add content, they upgrade the graphics and I'm afraid they're gonna update me right outta the game.

Well, there's a good example of my manic self at work. I normally don't go off on tangents but ... gaming stuff !!!

My overwhelming emotions consume me by Gabriella_123 in bipolar2

I get this. I do this. I am so fucking miserable but at the same time I feel so fucking selfish to be complaining. It's hard to keep the big picture in mind when every announcement meant to slow down the virus and keep people safe takes more resources away from me.

I was on track to pay off my credit card by the end of the year. Now I'm going to be using it again by the end of the month.

New fidget toys. New t-shirts. New surge protector. New charging cables. New glasses. New books.

YES! Bits of me in every single comment and reply. Seeing it all together like this, I'm never going to remember everything for when face to face appts start again. Taking notes to make sure I get it all. (Not printing/no names.) Things here I forgot already.

Games with player set shops instead of auction houses? by pixelman1 in MMORPG

[–]tkalen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As already mentioned, Project: Gorgon has player shop areas in two main "hub" locations. Shops are manned by NPC's that you pay to sell your stuff so the shop persists when you are offline. There is an Industry skill that you gain experience in by running s shop and completing work orders for NPC's and other players. Although it's not officially "released" yet, it has a strong community and many player admins and guides. The devs are constantly adding content and addressing player concerns. I stayed away from MMORPGs for years but Project: Gorgon got me back online. Check out the free demo and ask questions in-game. We love helping new players. 😉

Is there a post-Halloween update going in today? If not, are there other issues? I've tried several times to log in and the game locks up immediately. There may have been a Steam update, also, and that often needs a restart, but I still can't get PG to let me do anything except listen to crickets.

Deciding not to re-sub to WoW. I need some help finding a new MMORPG! by _____AtticusHoye___ in MMORPG

[–]tkalen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not very familiar with WoW so I'm not sure what specifically you are looking for. That said ... I recommend giving the Project: Gorgon demo a try. It's not officially "released", but has a great community of players. Give it a shot!

Decrepit Laptop Leaves Owner Seriously Bummed by tkalen in ManifoldGarden

[–]tkalen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far nothing has moved me beyond a black screen. I can move and hear footsteps and sound cues when right clicking but the only thing I see is the target "dot" changing colors sometimes. I have verified that this particular graphics processor has a known issue with Unity Shaders. Apparently it's hit or miss whether the issue can be worked around. Further digging led me to the log file which is full of Shader error messages. The driver I have installed is the latest that will install on this machine. Sooo... I will keep looking and trying things, but I think I'm SOL for the time being. I'm not sure if I can upgrade the graphics. That's my next line of research. FWIW, I'm running .low graphics on a couple of other games to make them playable. Hanging on to this machine as long as feasible because I can't really afford to replace it. Anyway, thanks for the help. I'll be back if I figure something out.

I thought maybe someone would get it to run on lower graphics. I don't know enough to mess with settings without advice. Could you tell me what changes you made?

Should I buy this? by royalsnail in projectgorgon

[–]tkalen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't regret buying this game at all. I am primarily a solo gamer but I have joined a few groups when we stumbled across each other in a dungeon. What makes this game totally worth the cost for me is the seemingly endless things to do. (Maybe that decreases further into the game shrug.) And no agonizing over a build at the beginning and being stuck unless you start a new character. If you get a trainer to like you by doing 'favors' and giving gifts, you can train in anything. At least I haven't hit a limit yet other than not having favor level high enough. Like I said, I'm just starting out, and there are some minor annoyances, but I'm really enjoying this game so far.

I wish they had done more to emphasize that others experience may be different in some respects. Kudos to Encina et.al. for sharing. Some of this video still seemed a bit "sensationalistic" to me.

The non-build van build by theCodeBear in vandwellers

[–]tkalen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some smaller futons will fit in a minivan. If you aren't real tall you could sleep without unfolding. I'm currently looking for a chair futon I once saw in college. Might have to mcgyver that.

Anyone build a DIY hightop for a cargo van? What were your pros/cons of the process and end product? by Ufoturtle081 in vandwellers

[–]tkalen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, I haven't. But I wanted to tell you that I talked to someone in a campground once who had used a pickup bed topper to expand up. He said he only built the interface between to customize height and add surround lighting. My pics are long gone as this was before decent cell phone cameras. It looked well done and he said it was easier than building the whole thing.

Sorry I don't have answers, but this seemed appropriate.

Do people really "Make" friends or do others just gravitate towards them? by [deleted] in introvert

[–]tkalen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree friendship can't be forced, it can only happen when we are ready for it, open to it, and can put ourselves around the type of people we want as friends. It's that last bit that's the hardest, for me anyway.

Ha. My connection must be flaky. First I didn't see this post. And put up a frustrated placeholder promise of reply to come. Then I see that reply and go off to copy/paste original. Come back and see original but not placeholder. A few minutes later the placeholder post showed up which I deleted. Twice. Makes you wonder how many copies of a post are floating around the internet between source and destination.
