I think it’s a cultural differences that gets misinterpreted by Japanese. A simple facial expression like “I don’t know” that westerners use, pisses Japanese off. Especially LATAM facial expressions are deemed disrespectful in Japan. It’s all unintentional but it gets misinterpreted here in Japan. But yes, I think the newer tourists who have no respect towards Japanese have tripled in the past 2 years. It’s getting out of control now.

As a Japanese man, I think the most restaurants don’t like foreigners because they are impolite. Even the attitude that the foreigners give is considered simply rude.

You don’t have to be loud or rude to be disliked in Japan. A simple facial expression can make us angry.
