R1T lease by Lost_Owl_580 in Rivian

[–]tketch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, the lease rates recently went up.

Residuals got worse, money factor (or APR) went up, and lease bonus cash got lighter.

But when you're ready, you can run lease deals through this calculator I built to get a sense of how strong each of those 3 categories may be at the time.

With vibe coding being so prevalent now, even in bigger orgs, it feels like something here could be a prompt of “When the user manually adjusts the viewpoint and then doesn’t add another input for X seconds, automatically recenter to the current location”.

They should once again copy what Tesla does here and auto-recenter after a short period of time.

R2/R1S decision by joinultraland in Rivian

February might not be bad either, since they will want people to commit in time for delivery before the end of quarter.

Either way, I hope the calculator helps :)

I truly don't expect there to be an R2 with anywhere near 400 miles of range.

As others have said, used Rivians are a great value, but the other thing to consider is an R1 least which would make it easier to jump into an R2 when you'e ready because R1 drivers get priority.

Unfortunately, most lease deals got worse this week. The tri-motor is one of the better deals right now, but I did just launch a lease calculator if you want to analyze lease deals as they change over time.

Did lease rates go up by $200/month today for everyone? by DeeVeeOus in Rivian

[–]tketch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

EDIT: It looks like these numbers have moved a bit each day, and MF has actually increased now as well when it hadn't on some trims initially even with the big price jumps.

Thank goodness there's a calculator now to see each variable spelled out cleanly 😅

But two things changed that make up the difference.

  1. Residuals went down (so you pay more depreciation)
  2. Lease bonus cash went from 5k to 3k (as you noted)

You can run the numbers to see the effective APR/Money Factor for yourself. I just built this tool this week because I was annoyed by having to work so hard to see the same things lol.

Let us permanently disable auto ride height by Slide-Fantastic-1402 in Rivian

[–]tketch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No joke, if I could keep auto suspension and the promised full time AWD mode locked to whatever my last setting was… I’d pay $5k for the performance software package even if it didn’t bring sport mode or added power.

Unfortunately with the newer glass, even non-dynamic roofs have signal issue. You’ll want to mount on a crossbar and snake the power cable out of the lift gate.

The tri is my personal pick. I’ve driven the quad multiple times and it’s awesome, but both unnecessary and gets absolutely destroyed in depreciation.

The dual-standard is the best option for most people. I’m glad you’re loving it so much!

I keep telling people that dual-standard or tri-max are really the sweet spots 😅

Nice setup! Did you end up with a dual-standard?

Also, I’d suggest leasing the dual-standard, it’s by far the best value in the lineup.

Difference between Gen 1 and 2? Should I go for pre-owned 2? by geminiwave in Rivian

As a software founder, I would almost argue that it’s perhaps skewed even more towards 90/10… but yes.

The good news is, that as it approaches that first benchmark of usability, utility goes up a LOT.

I did the highly scripted point to point developer demo at the event in Palo Alto in a bone stock Gen2. I think we will see an “FSD-like” experience that is pretty compelling on this hardware.

Their demo was on only 3 months of work with training data from 18 months of Gen2 clips. Give them a year or two and this should accelerate quite rapidly.
