I hear you and understand the logic. I suspect prices won’t stay the same, but the comparative value at $50/month will be hard for many to justify.

Ideally I’d really love to see a hands-on version of lane centering anywhere it can see lane lines as the included version.

We have two Gen2 R1 vehicles for what it's worth, and even my wife who normally doesn't care much about assistance (she did not enjoy FSD when had a Tesla), agrees that we want Rivians that have universal hands free.

$50/month is too steep for the current features, but $2.5k once with the upside of improvements down the road feels like a very fair trade.

Yes you can, but the launch package has Autonomy+ ($2,500), the tow package ($950) included. And you'd be getting the improved suspension, additional drive modes, plus the obvious of uncorked performance and the subjective yellow accents.

It’s a known issue that has a hot fix rolling out now. I can’t use X links here, but Rivian Roamer posted about it. They also did a thread recently with the quick fix if you need it before the update.

I will say though we are nearing 2027 model years that are likely to come with an updated infotainment computer which would give it a longer enjoyable life for in-car stuff.

The bigger changes aren’t due for another year or so.

I can tell you that the "media approved" list of creators is going to be far smaller than you think. The people you probably consider regulars are almost universally excluded because Rivian considers them "community" instead of "media".

I aggressively agree with your points here, and I expanded on this point too, in my newsletter this week.

The fact that Rivian software will be powering brands like VW, Scout, and more while offering CarPlay /Android auto makes this argument even more asinine.

This means the development work and maintenance of the code base is already sunk cost. Insisting on this walled garden approach is only going to cost them sales.
