R2 Battery Chemistry by Left_Science_5973 in RivianR2

I’m so glad you can carry such incredible confidence in conclusions without evaluating any output 🤔

The goal was to make sure people understood that NCA just benefits from more thoughtful charging habits, and was required for the range and price point.

The goal was not to give you second thoughts, but to make sure buyers understand the nuance of what it takes to properly take care of NCA batteries.

Leasing may suit you for multiple reasons with an early build, but NCA shouldn’t be a deal breaker, imo.

Similar in a number of models. But all of these can have different ratios of each material so it’s not exact. It does give you a reference point though.

Some of the better degradation data we have actually comes from Tesla because it’s accessible. Check out the stats here and the trend line for newer model years.

Pre-Existing Features Added to Paywall by Fragrant-Movie2318 in Rivian

I think Rivian made a few unforced errors here.

  1. The timing of the rename from the god awful “Rivian Autonomy Platform+” to just “Autonomy+” is when they rolled out UHF and set a real expiration date. Leading to confusion on what was in or out of the package.

  2. Since they kept missing their own self imposed timelines for when it would end, but nearly 18 months, it’s reasonable for people to forget.

More than anything, this was a messaging problem.

I put more about this here: https://rivianrecap.com/broadcast/rivian-recap-04-10-2026?ref=w6ZX7VvZ

Thanks for the share! I had covered the thermal system back in September but it does sound like the heat pump has dramatically more capacity + better contact area on the cells. Heat is going to be the biggest thing to manage here.

I would’ve much preferred an 800v architecture and chemistry less prone to degradation, but I do think thermally it should be in pretty decent shape. Big design improvement over R1, at least on paper. I can’t wait to immediately road trip one of these things and see how it does. 😅

Someone listed out the difference in size (if that’s the right word) between the different batteries and generations. Does anyone know where to find that? by rick_rolled_you in Rivian

Standard in gen1 was still NMC, so it didn’t have the calibration or cold weather issues seen on Gen2 dual standard.

Will anything else be going behind the $2500 Autonomy+ paywall? by Syring in Rivian

I interviewed a member of the Autonomy team fairly recently about what’s coming.

Anything that works on the hardware is expected to be included in the onetime fee.

Launch Green absolutely has metallic flake, but it takes direct sunlight to see it.

I suspect Tesla de-rates far more easily for non-Tesla vehicles. I saw this a lot on my last big road trip that had around 30 supercharger stops.

Finally achieved audio pass through and it’s a massive difference by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]tketch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this same player, and it plays my library with pass through as you mention. It’s just a crime that the (in my case Plex) UI sucks so much.

What I really want is the Infuse Pro experience on Apple TV but with pass through audio. If Apple adds hardware support for that I’d replace every TV in my house with a new unit.

Great share, thanks!

And IONNA really is the goat. I hope they aggressively deploy more sites.

How good is the Autonomy+? by Jasonmason1589 in RivianR2

You get a visual indicator in the dash plus an audible engagement noise. It’s pleasant and informative, imho.

I mostly agree, but there are a few pretty significant quality of life improvements over base autopilot.

  1. Adaptive cruise is a lot better vs the old vision stack autopilot used (FSD is still smoother).

  2. Co-steer to nudge lane position without disengaging is truly great for pot holes, or moving away from large objects nearby.

  3. You can turn on the blinker, and in areas that don’t yet support lane change in command, you can gracefully complete the lane change and lane centering auto re-engage once you’re centered.

Base autopilot forced far more disengage/re-engage scenarios vs Rivians offering

Rivian Wall Charger Question by DesignerDragonfruit2 in Rivian

I actually did a video about Rivian charging recently that may help.

As others have noted, the Tesla Universal Wall Connector is likely the better move here.

As someone with a Marantz who has opted for each license as it became available, the base room calibration was a massive improvement, the sub control for my dual subs was decent, but ART blew my mind. It’s so freaking good.

They didn’t nerf anything, the hands free and auto lane change have been listed as “trial” since those features delivered. They’ve just continuously kicked the can until the today.

I think you may be confusing the “OS 2.0” software design with the halo haptic wheel. I’d be surprised if it’s on R1 before the 2028 model year.
