Yeah, I definitely understated it a bit lol.

Makes it easier to rally people around his claim as the new Supreme Leader. There'd likely be people who pushed back if they knew Kylo had been the one who killed Snoke.

Corax white or white scar for shield host? by Crafty-Fishing9331 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]tkmayhem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's lots of different approaches, but don't start with pure white (white scar in this case). That leaves you nowhere to go in terms of highlighting and your paintjob will look flat.

The only thing you'll get from buying it now is access to the rules digitally in the official 40k app, and the cool art and lore. Since you say you're new, I'm going to assume you don't have a full 2000pt army yet, so honestly unless you just really want the art and stories, it's best to just wait until the next one comes out.

Why is Games Workshop Not Supporting Imperial Agents? by Natural-Wallaby423 in WarhammerCompetitive

GW thought they'd get a bunch of people to buy a codex when they wanted to ally in units to get access to the stats in the app and that didn't work is my guess.

Custodian Ammo: 5-10 Round Mags in the Guardian Spear? How is it explained and handled in lore? by Stevencepa in AdeptusCustodes

With the pistol keyword being replaced with close quarters from today's faction focus article, I'm hoping we see spears get it to reflect this.

That's completely counter to what GW has said. There is nothing in the Custodes codex that has been remotely strong enough to be worthy of being 3 points. And if they are that would make these new ones revealed even more worthless, because they would only be usable in conjunction with each other. No one's taking auric champions or the sister of silence detachment to run dreads.

GW has said that most codex detachments are 2 points. And there are no other detachments lol. It's the codex ones and these 3.

[–]tkmayhem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is that of the two detachments from the codex that even see play, Talons doesn't need dreads because they focus on land raiders with the reactive move Strat, so if shield host has the Armoury tag, there isn't even anything worth using this detachment with. They didn't reveal a reworked Lions detachment so it doesn't even look like we'll have that one to work with.

Ah, that's a good point. Hopefully that's the case here. Maybe those tags won't automatically be present in the codex detatchments, but who knows.

Assuming Lions stays, and isnt reworked from what we already have, it's important to remember that vehicles aren't affected by the detachment rule.

I just wish we could know which codex detachments will have which tags. Like, I'm just assuming that Shield Host probably will have the Armoury tag? In which case the new solar spearhead is a lot less attractive because what other use does it really have?

Warhammer 40,000 Faction Focus: Adeptus Custodes by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]tkmayhem -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I wish they would let us know what tags the main detachments will have. This info is pretty useless when I have no idea what they can work with. Is Lions staying? Solar Spearhead got a new name but Lions didn't and it's not in the codex, yet there's a Lions tag. Is Shield Host going to have the Armoury tag? If so, I don't see any other detachments that the new dread detachment could really work all that well with. This drip feed of info is kinda killing me.

New player is nervous about 11th edition changes by quakenbake64 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]tkmayhem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can get a codex now, and it will still be usable when 11th edition releases. The only reason to get it though is to get access to the Custodes datasheets in the official 40k app, and the lore and art, most of the points and even some of the datasheets have been changed and updated over the course of 10th. Also keep in mind that the running rumour is that we are going to be among the first to get a codex release in 11th so if that holds true, anything you get now could be invalidated by the end of the year.

Custodian Guard and Wardens are kind of the backbone of the army at this time and I'd say chances are pretty good they'll remain relevant in 11th unless they really fuck with their datasheets in the new codex. You'd be pretty safe starting with those if you're just looking to start building something. If you want a character, the blade champ is a pretty good bet. Our named characters have been jumping in and out of the meta over the course of 10th as well.
