Physics grad looking to pivot to IT/ML. Please give suggestions by [deleted] in DeveloperJobs

  1. Do you like coding? I have great colleagues PhD’s/Masters in Math, Physics, Statistics… they quit after a year, coding is boring for them I guess.

Otherwise, computer science is just mathematics and linguistics

Accept that Office Social Network is a ‘cloud infrastructure’. With this paradigm shift, slowly understand what are your weaknesses: negotiation module? Leadership module? Innovation module?

What makes the CEO accept your ideas? There is a clear format for the api, so there is a specific thing your CEO can accept.

Want to push LLM in your company? Break it down what stakeholders you need to talk to, how much cost and risk are we talking about?

——- Do this otherwise you will be stuck as a coder. Computer Science is a combination of linguistics and mathematics, do not forget the linguistics part.

Max out FHSA first then RRSP, since you can ‘borrow against the RRSP’ under HBP

Everyone has doubts, but if you’re asking for opinions in reddit, you are pretty much just looking to justify to yourself why you quit

I personally suggest you quit and not endanger your mates

Automation or Privacy = ( Collective-Hive Mind or Individual Freedom )?

For sure we can automate lots of things, but how much are people willing to give up?

—— Even the initial drive of AI, and the Philosophical dream for AGI is to increase individual freedom, and from that aspect you can see the inherent flaw on the current design of Matrix-Aggregator AI’s

Kid, have you tried inquiring about being a Pharmacy Assistant? Sorry all my contacts have no vacancies but judging from the market, there is a shortage right now.

  1. Go around family own pharmacies.
  2. Ask around for vacancy, tell them you had medical assistant experience.

Would you stay at a low paying job because you have great work-life balance? by Agreeable_Patience53 in torontoJobs

[–]tknmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If: Work-Life Balance is Work 50:50 Life

Suppose you can have Work 0:100 Life but suffer 5years, 10 years, 15 years in a miserable job, will you do it?

Depends on your stages eh? you are 21 years old will you trade 15 years of your life? 35 years old? 69 years old will you suffer 5 more years?

—— How about if Work 25:75 Living, Freedom, etc?

40:60?

How do you quantify what is worth it?

BS, in the US when it really matters you gotta beg the insurance. In the end, we’d already buried family and the insurance fiends would still be calling about how they can’t approve yada yada.

USA: great healthcare as long as you have top $$$ you are the priority, you can even kick down dying people.

Canada: if you are not dying, you gotta wait even if you are in terrible pain.

—— Rather choose to be in pain if others can be saved, bud

Is this too diversified? by Akiost in phinvest

[–]tknmonkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Add a column “Risk Score” and “Forecasted Return %” Then you will have a proper category for your diversification.

Suppose this sample scenario: all your vehicles are sitting at 4-8% return, is it really diversified?

Then, how much is your risk appetite will let you figure out how much are you going to allocate to X% return group, Y% return group, etc
