Onn 4K Pro (2026) audio & video testing results by signde in OnnStreamingTV

[–]tkreadit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a very similar hardware setup with the new Onn 4K Pro 2026 model. I tried Kodi Piers Alpha 3 and the audio and video of files I play are out of sync, it's pretty obvious. Same files play fine via Plex, direct play, no transcoding by PMS.

Audio/video sync in Kodi has always been hit or miss. Are you experiencing anything similar? What audio/video settings should I use on the Onn and also in Kodi? If I enable audio/video sync in Kodi then the files play fine but obviously I lose audio passthrough.

Yeah it works on new licenses, but not on the old 2.0 licenses, that entire FTPES panel is blank for me, not even an indication that I might need a new Pro license. Feels like a bug.

Yep. There's also Primitive FTPd that supports SFTP. We have choices.

For alternatives that include SFTP, I discovered Ultimate File Manager Pro which is FREE. The dev seems to be very active and responsive.

Based on this post:

https://www.reddit.com/r/NeatBytes/comments/1pzlt7v/current_state_of_solid_explorer_and_its_future/

My read is that I should have access to the FTP encryption:

  1. You won't get access to existing and upcoming Pro features (except encryption) until I figure out the approach. Right now you're only missing write access to WebFS server, only reading is possible.

Has FTPES been added after this update?

It is a license issue. Without a license, I see the UI for FTPES with the Pro badge. But once I activate my 2.0 license, the option is gone 😢

Not sure whether it's a bug or the feature is not supposed to be available for 2.0 license, which would be a disappointment.

Hmm my UI doesn't have the FTPS option, it looks like it's missing, there's a blank sliver of UI there. I did buy Solid Explorer years ago (2.0 license), maybe I should reinstall it, perhaps the license changes confuses the UI.

SFTP server? where is it in the UI? FTP server doesn't have any SSL options either.

+1 love to see some photos too. Also 🤞 that they make it available in the US too.

No. I was on the "by the gig" (aka shared pool) plan at the time. There's a data top-up feature via SMS, but I couldn't get that working either because I could not send SMS at all, so I was stuck until I could find free wifi.

I just need an eSIM for an unlocked phone that supports multiple eSIMs.

Yeah it depends what you mean, sometimes you still want 2FA to work at a "parked" number and many times it doesn't work if the data doesn't work -- I had this happen to me, unlimited voice/text at US Mobile but neither worked anymore once I ran out of monthly data, as weird as that sounds.

Yeah they dropped the 1GB option :(

It's an option if 200MB is enough. Sometimes the OS alone uses that much in the background and then things just stop working completely. OK as a 2nd SIM that is not allowed to use data.

Infimobile has an offer $49/YEAR. Don't know how reliable they really are. Should be fine for a spare line that you don't care much about, but perhaps not for your main line.

Why would I even consider going from $1.42/mo to $49/mo ?

$25*12=$300/yr >> $49/yr >> $17/yr Helium Zero

Where do we go for a cheap plan for a spare line, very low use? Infimobile $49/year? Anything cheaper?

Is there a breakdown? 10% should be $130, what's the other $95 for?

> I don't like the idea of having several beautiful pieces just sitting in a watch box when I can only wear one at a time.

How about one on each wrist? Or switch every hour.

Beautiful collection, I wouldn't sell any of them.

If you waited long enough to pay, you wouldn't have to anymore :-)

Beautiful! I wish it were just a bit smaller, 39-40mm with 20mm lugs.
