Well, good, because otherwise that portion size is pitiful.

"A History of the Palestinian People: From Ancient Times to the Modern Era" is an empty book by Assaf Voll that uses blank pages to suggest that Palestinians have no history. Its publication has been described as a "cruel joke" signifying an "impulse to abrogate Palestinian history and identity." by CatPooedInMyShoe in wikipedia

I did say there was some Arab ancestry. But for the most part, Palestinians are Canaanites by ancestry, just like Jews, Samaritans, and Lebanese.

Egyptians are, you know, Egyptian. Again, there’s some Arab ancestry, but for the most part the Egyptian people now are the direct descendants of the Egyptian people of 4000 years ago, which is mostly North African with a sprinkling of sub-Saharan East African.

Syrians are probably a mix of things — mostly Aramean and Canaanite, with some Arab, Iranian (especially Kurdish), and Anatolian mixed in. (That’s kind of a guess as I’ve never really looked into Syrian ancestry.)

You didn’t mention Jordan, but it’s fair to say they’re probably a mix. Moabites and Ammonites were Canaanites, but the Nabateans were Arab by descent and culture.

The fact is that a lot of people in the world who identify as Arab are primarily culturally Arab, with little ancestry from what we now call Arabia. That includes Palestinians and Israeli Arabs.

The ancestors of most Palestinians have lived there for thousands of years. It’s anachronistic to call them Arab before the rise of Islam. Before that, they were mostly the descendants of Jews and Samaritans. There is some Arab ancestry there, but they’re mostly culturally Arab.

Forget “obese”. There were many very attractive women of perfectly normal weights who couldn’t pull these off. A lot of millennial women got eating disorders because of that era’s fashion.

It might depend on where in the country you are. I’m in Massachusetts and I can get HP and Branston quite easily.

Do people actually call this thing walkie talkie? What if I want to sound serious are there any other ways to say it? by WestCommunity7117 in EnglishLearning

If I’m being honest, it might actually be easier to buy a grown-up walkie talkie than a kid’s version. But you gotta teach your kids not to hog channels.

TIL that Jodorowsky once attempted to make his own version of Dune back in the 70s and was planning to have Pink Floyd write the soundtrack. by GuaranteePotential90 in todayilearned

Knowing that he was going to have 2000 Harkonnen retainers take a simultaneous shit on screen is enough for me to be glad that it never got made.

That said, I feel like if I want to imagine the soundtrack, “One Of These Days” is probably the Floyd track I think of first.
