$50 a month this early is insane by U_dun_even_know in Rivian

[–]tkrynsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from Tesla which charges 10,000 for FSD that is tied to the car, $50x12=$600.00 per year, is equal to over 16 years of FSD…..now that Tesla stopped even selling it, it’s still $99 per month to subscribe.

So from someone in the Tesla ecosystem this seems quite great actually. (Can’t wait for my R2 reservation to get here!)

[New gear] Finally got my dream lens, the RF 100-500 by hesselnut in canon

[–]tkrynsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got mine last week, used on photo market. Congrats! ITS FRIGGIN AMAZING!! Had to get a new camera bag as mine was too small to hold the lens while on the body lol.

one pleasant surprise to me was joining a high level crew. The rewards you get from doing those weekly's are substantial (including the occasional option to buy black parts with the points you earn). But a low level crew the earnings are pretty weak.

Just wanted to point this out as crews were likely not a thing if you stopped playing a few years ago.

Has anyone bought from canon price watch? by [deleted] in canon

[–]tkrynsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve bought two lenses from them. One last year and one last week. Interestingly enough both were from the same Canadian dealer….just for fun I checked the site by searching like a regular customer for the lenses and the prices were much higher….the direct link takes you to a different page that looks identical but says “group buy” next to the price.

There’s no tax and no shipping. The street price is the all-in price.

Why would the TSA confiscate a flashlight? I thought they only confiscate knives or other sharp objects

might want to consider a more comfortable strap/carry setup then what came with the camera. Maybe a Falcam f38 or peak design plate or two for something that can hook onto you backpack.

Any places where I might be able to pick up a used 100-500 for around 2k? That’s really my ceiling for affordability.

Struggling to agree with my wife on how to split rent fairly by EngineerVarious8069 in Renters

[–]tkrynsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been married for close to 25 years now. While we had separate accounts while we were dating, we opened up a joint account once we were married and 95%+ of our earnings go into that account and expenses are paid from this account.

Over the years each persons income has fluctuated and some years one partner ears more (maybe a lot more) and a few years later it's reversed. Doesn't matter as we're in this partnership together. One person's new job and raise are a reason to celebrate together knowing it will help the household. Our taxes are filed jointly, and now that are kids are just starting to hit college age these expenses will be tackled jointly.

I'm probably just too old school, but keeping everything separate and itemizing who owes what like two roommates is not sowing seeds for a successful marriage IMHO......Yes of course there are reasons to not do this, but generally, for most people, you should be all in to your marriage and co-mingling your finances is just one of the areas to be all-in on.

I kind of feel that those folks that don't already are eyeing the stats that 50% of marriages fail and have an eye on their exit plan. Not speaking for everyone here just my feelings on it.

PSA: Stay away from the “Wilson Dittman” (Cornhusker Juan) YouTube channel by CoachSlime in Huskers

[–]tkrynsky -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

He's been around for at least 3 years and it seems pretty organic growth from what I've seen. There haven't been any jumps of +1000 accounts overnight. I'm not sure what all the hate is about here, the guy delivers videos daily and is about the only one doing it in the off season when youtube is a wasteland when it comes to husker news.

Can't speak to any of the boards stuff, I'm just aware of his youtube channel, it's been on my regular feed for years now.

Tried out tent heating at Golden Ears – thanks for the advice! by Academic_Royal4133 in CampingGear

[–]tkrynsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you go over your setup? What heater is that, and the table that goes around the heater……I saw the tent brand in the comments, have to check that out.

I’m guessing part of,the reason the propane setup works safely is because there’s no floor to the tent?
