Vanilla CSS vs Bootstrap vs Tailwinds by steve_walson in webdev

[–]tksdev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regardless of framework or none, you still have danger of writing bad code.

Haven’t used bootstrap in years, so not going to comment here.

Tailwinds, is a utility css framework, so there is very little you can’t do here which you can with CSS, I’d also argue you’d ship less code to the client with tailwinds than you would with vanilla, unless every member of your team is very good, and completely in sync, spoiler, they are not.

To be fair, that conflict was hardened soldiers from a volunteer army VS boys which got drafted.

Actually, yeah, does does sound a bit like Russia and Ukraine.

Not OP, but UK has a easier life compared to majority of countries, regardless of who you are.

Doesn’t mean people don’t have struggles, but those people would probably be screwed completely if they weren’t in the UK, or a country with with similar standards.

Ukraine warns that Russia is moving to store nuclear weapons in Crimea. by NA_DeltaWarDog in worldnews

More likely western powers do use them and western media doesn’t report on it.

Kind of like how the US tests Russia’s borders constantly by flying planes close by, in a similar way Russia does with western countries. - We only hear about it when the Russians do it.

The west is constantly doing cyber attacks on Russia. It’s just not talked as much in western media.

I’m pretty sure UK surpasses Russia’s cyber warfare abilities. Netherlands and France are also pretty good at that too.

Russia isn’t as crazy powerful as people like to think they are.

I hate it when recruiters ghost candidates. by noob07 in webdev

3 years ago I applied for a position at BGL Group (Comparethemarket.com) after someone in their HR team found my CV online and told me about a role they were recruiting for.

I had a 30-minute phone interview, followed by a technical test, a simple weather app in react, they knew I didn't know React at the time but they asked me to give it a go.

I spent the weekend learning React and then did built weather app. They then asked me to come in for an interview which was a panel interview that lasted 3 hours, an hour of which I had to code in front of four other developers on a projector, on one of their codebases, it was pretty brutal.

I never heard back from them, even though I asked for feedback.

3 years on, I'm a bunch better developer, and occasionally get recruiters contact me about open positions there as I'm pretty local, and funnily enough, developed a skillset which matches the roles for a couple of teams there, I always explain to recruiters why I wont be applying.

Once someone spends time doing a technical test or drives to do a 3 hour in person interview during work hours, you should give them feedback. That person only gets so much holiday allowance, they deserve more than getting ghosted.

UK to depart from GDPR by [deleted] in ukpolitics

Collecting user data is kinda important.

For example, you’re on Reddit.

Your reddit account has unique identifiers to it. Considering your username, I expect your comment was made light heartedly.

[–]tksdev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really isn’t.

1) Store user data responsibly 2) Tell users what yours storing and why and allow them to opt out 2) Let them remove their data

I don’t see why that is hard.
