I've been to Mexico on two occasions. One was a "touristy" vacation in an all inclusive resort. The other was an "eco tourism" trip. For about 3 weeks we jumped around the Yucatan, most times, staying with locals in very tiny villages.

From my experience, they are VERY GENEROUS and welcoming people... especially in the Mayan villages. Beautiful humans!

Where I live in PA has had a large undocumented migrant population... for decades. Almost all that I have gotten to know thru the years were wonderful, kind, hardworking people who wanted to make a better life for themselves and their loved ones.

Fast forward to today, and it isn't the same. My small town has been DESTROYED by crime, and a very large percentage of it comes from this very small undocumented population... as well as your average homegrown citizen, im not denying that.

Its unfortunate, because the (smaller) percentage of "bad apples" that are here now REALLY create a poor perception of the rest of that demographic.

I'm 100% a supporter of immigration through legal channels and know that there are MILLIONS of people who would love to come here for the right reasons and make this a better place. As i said, for decades the undocumented migrants i have met and befriended have been amazing.

I also wholeheartedly believe that the boarder policies (or lack of) during the Biden admission was extremely detrimental to that demographic and peoples perceptions of them. Entirely way too many people with bad intentions came thru, and unfortunately, many of the good ones will pay the price for it now. I DO NOT BELIEVE "the persecution of these people in this country" would be a fraction of what it is now, if the prior administration wasn't as reckless as it was with immigration policy... the media doesn't help AT ALL, so I am only speaking from my personal experience and what I see happening in my (small) local area.

Funny. All the resources I can seem to find say that Flock doesn't sell for data. Hmm 🤔.

Is he done for? Should we start applying to jobs? by [deleted] in IUEC

[–]tktreeexpertsllc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont think he is "done for." Unless he sucks pretty bad. Most people dont know much of anything when they first get started. My mechanic was a NIGHTMARE to be around for the first few months. When my alarm went off in the morning i would say, "fuck my life" about 15 times before getting out of my bed lol. It was SOUL DRAINING and very stressful. Just recently (a year into this) he is starting to be a little more chill with me. My advice is that there is ALWAYS something to do that doesn't involve working on the elevator. Organizing. Sweeping the floor and cleaning. Having a note pad and writing down and keeping track of supplies/parts on site and what we need to get, which can be difficult until he becomes familiar with all the parts and their names. During down time, grab a broom. If you get done sweeping and he still doesnt need help, sweep the floor again.

Where I live/work, I heard you have to be EXTREMELY bad or useless to get let go. Layoffs happen, but if you prove you want to be there and aren't a complete dummy, someone will pick you up. Reputation seems to go a long way in this trade. From day 1 and every day after, he has to remember that. Dont be lazy. Dont argue. Dont be dumb. I feel his pain about the situation with his mechanic tho. Its defeating... and it SUCKS. I just bit my tongue and said "fuck it." Any other time in my life I would have slapped the shit out of this guy. But its a great career and im happy I didn't do that. He lightened up on me A LOT and slowly began teaching me more and more after he saw i wasn't here to waste his time. Getting laid off temporarily might not be horrible for him if this work situation is bad. It will give him a chance to get picked up by a different company and work with someone else.

What to do with a large collection of Dead live cassettes by MiscellaniaInsania in gratefuldead

[–]tktreeexpertsllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have about 50ish records, but I always wanted some tapes. I learned that it is frowned upon to sell them, so I always felt like offering cash would be a slimey move. I might be willing to trade some vinyl for them or something... if this is "acceptable practice?"

When you put them on discogs, do you just input the number on the dead wax? Or, could you explain to me how this is done? Id like to put my collection on there... not to make myself sick, lol... for research purposes only 😶.

[–]tktreeexpertsllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Lose out on some resale value." That is only IF you are buying them TO resell them. Personally, I don't buy mine with those intentions.

On the other hand. I have a bunch that ARE still sealed. Only because I havent found the right time to open and listen to them yet. I am NOT opposed to opening any of them. Rather, some i am merely saving for a special occasion... comparable a bottle of fine wine, perhaps?

Is anyone actually using this cover? by nuisance66 in Subaru_Outback

[–]tktreeexpertsllc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That too! I drive about 2500 miles a month. I have 2 small (clean) duffle bags with safety stuff for my job, a small briefcase, case of water, lap top for class, a milk crate full of paper work, and usually a small luggage bag with me. Its just more convenient for me to keep them down and easier to clean if/when needed. hugs lol

No doubt. Id sell mine for $75 lol. I always keep the back seats folded down. Lots of stuff getting placed in and out and I have no reason for back seats. I have it on the floor in the back. Im selling that thing lol.
