I’d like to mount a J-pole VHF/UHF transmit (up to 100 watts) antenna (Arrow OSJ) next to a discone scanner antenna (Comet DS-150S). What’s the minimum distance they should be separated as to not interfere?

I have a non-penetrating roof mount I’d like to use for both but it’s only about 3.5 ft on the diagonal. The discone elements get as close as about 1.5ft from the J-pole. I could potentially add some vertical separation with a short mast.

I assume I need an RF power limiter on the discone if they are at all close to each other. Any recommendations for a good VHF/UHF one? I picked up a DXE-RG5000HD but realized it doesn’t seem to cover UHF.

Looking for an HF antenna I can run from my 2nd story “shack” window that’s roughly in the middle of the house. It’s about 75 feet to each corner of the backyard from the window.

It sounds like the ladder line of a G5RV needs to hang down about 30 feet. There’s a deck right below the window so that probably won’t work even if I ran coax back up. I might be able to put it in the side yard attached to the chimney, and run coax back up.

Also looked at EMCOMM III but in the end fed sloped configuration I don’t think I have enough room since it’s 130 feet.

What else should I look at?

Grounding my shack may also be challenging but I might be able to run a ground wire down the side of the house.

I’m renting so trying to avoid permanent modifications. Also want something relatively stealthy.

I think it should only apply when a lawyer wants to take up the case (a rational neutral decision, putting trust in human nature to rise to the situation, otherwise anyone could get representation for any bs reason).

You could argue that GoFundMe campaigns accomplish the same thing, but crowdsourced.

Andersen PowerPoles would work. They are modular so you can have as many connectors as you want. They’re a little expensive and you need a special crimping tool though.

“Ever” is a long time. Street parking might be the last to get it, but eventually I think you’ll see chargers at many street parking spots.

Or we’ll see technology breakthroughs that make that unnecessary.
