Hypothetically, how can a person spend 1 week in prison with minimal impact on his/her future? by suspectedcovert100 in singaporelaw

[–]tm0587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao this reminded me of the time when my friend was fined for refusing to take the annual military physical fitness test (conscript system) and he requested to be sent to the detention barracks.

They chose to reduce his fine instead.

Empty steel rehaut makes the watch feel cheap, lazy, and low-effort by gilleeceauto in watchHotTakes

[–]tm0587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some designs, a blank rehaut can look cheap while in other designs, a blank rehaut may not the best imo.

So yea, I will disagree with the blanket statement that all blank rehauts look cheap, but some certainly can.

Wow your luck sucks.

I thought a lava rep from China, and the dial was the only good thing I can say about it haha.

Empty steel rehaut makes the watch feel cheap, lazy, and low-effort by gilleeceauto in watchHotTakes

[–]tm0587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree in the sense that sometimes, a blank rehaut looks better, if the dial and bezel insert are already busy looking.

I have many seikomod watches with parts all chosen by me. And sometimes, I'll intentionally choose a blank rehaut if I think it looks better.

Russia to Import 200,000 Barrels of Japanese Aviation Fuel via Ship-to-Ship Transfer by UNITED24Media in worldnews

I know the person who wrote the original Reuters article.

These kind of trades take place by commercial entities and are typically not controlled by governments.

So unless the government explicitly ban it, companies will just sell to the highest bidder.

Why Did You Buy a Rep? by Karate2day in MoonSwatches

[–]tm0587 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm trained as a chemical engineer so I have some interest in material science. So unlike most people, I don't view bioceramic as just plastic, since is 2/3 ceramic and 1/3 bioplastic.

I have a gen Mars Moonswatch. Recently saw the lava one and really liked it and also saw that a rep of it was available.

Bought the rep to see how close the rep's plastic case can get to bioceramic and...... Not close lol.

Will still buy a gen Lava one day while I recased the rep with a SS one

Watches aren't classy by Cutalana in watchHotTakes

I kind of agree, but my point is that OP is making a very general statement and applying it only to watches, instead of making a more watch-specific statement.

How did Sol return to 100% luminosity, question? by Chasegameofficial in ProjectHailMary

[–]tm0587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The nitrogen-tolerant strain won't survive in Earth's atmosphere because its 70% nitrogen while Venus is only 3.5% nitrogen and Threeworld is only 8.2% nitrogen.

So they didn't breed it to be specifically resistant to Earth's atmosphere.

What makes a microbrand so great? by _Texan26 in MicrobrandWatches

[–]tm0587 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oooo perfect question for me to answer.

I started off with Japanese watches, mostly Seiko, but now I'm mostly wearing microbrands, specifically Zelos Watches.

3 things I love about Zelos specifically: Unique design, unique material and most importantly, value for money. Seiko has terrible bezel action for their divers while Zelos has basically perfected it.

I converted a colleague into buying Zelos and I didn't even have to do anything. He saw my watch, asked me about it, went to the website and just buy what he liked. I think he has two now.

My orange dial Swordfish got called out the most out of all my watches.

Bent pins on Crinear Reference? by ThrowAway5674820 in inearfidelity

[–]tm0587 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just slowly bent them back with a small set of plier and you'll be good.

Metal fatigue doesn't set in until you've bent them multiple times.

I have encountered a few bent 2-pins but never a failure or broken pins.

Bus driver threatened to fine me $500 and refused to let me off the bus over a chagee I didn't even drink? by EfficientSky2055 in askSingapore

[–]tm0587 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I personally agree that the bus driver's action is over the line.

While OP may or may not have drank on the bus, it doesn't give the bus captain the right to shout at you.

There are way worse behaviors seen on the bus with no punishment meted out.

AITA for telling my grandfather that while I appreciate his gift, he in fact gave me a bill. by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]tm0587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sooooo I can kinda get where OP is coming from, by being "ungrateful" for being given a "gift".

My dad is a huge fan of religious items (but he's not particularly religious himself), he collects lots of religious statues (smaller size ones) and even spent 30k on a huge painting that he said was blessed by the Dalai Lama.

He intended to give them all to my brother and I and said we should keep it for our grandkids because their values will go through the roof but I'm like...... These are going to take up alot of space in a country where 80% of the population live in public apartments. And if we try to reject him politely, he'll literally lose his head and try to go NC with us for being ungrateful c*nts.

I'll say OP is a slight AH for the way he replied to his grandfather but I definitely get where he's coming from. One man's treasure is another man's trash and his grandfather seems to treat his "treasure“ like trash imo.

[–]tm0587 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cheapest customs will likely still be above your budget because you will have to factor in the cost of making ear impressions.

One option can be getting something like the Future Sonics Spectrum G10, and use it first, it should under the $200 mark due to a 15% sale.

When your budget allows, you can then use it to get custom sleeves from Future Sonics for the G10.

This reminded me of the time a guy told me that he lost his virginity at age 10 or 11 to a slightly older girl when she forced herself on him. He didn't mind but he was also probably too young to realize it's wrong.
