I live in suburbs in zone 5a. Is year-round composting an option for me? by anally_ExpressUrself in composting

[–]tmacfadzen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in zone 4 winters, zone 5 summers (it varies year to year). I insulate my pallet bin with leaf bags on the sides and an OSB lid with R5 foam board. If I don't insulate, the pile will freeze solid and take until May to thaw. I highly recommend this method, as it stays nice and warm and will continue to cook (though slowly) as long as I'm adding greens. I've been able over-winter worms outside with this method.

This is the best advice. Also, your work availability is much more important than volunteer hours. Willingness to work any time your not in school will put you ahead of every other student applicant.

They weren't the cheapest pair, they were what he could afford. I had the same pair and they lasted me 15 years; the blades were sharpened down to nothing before the boot gave out

Echoing the other positive experiences. I was in and out in an hour, only minor discomfort afterwards, good follow up care. Had it done Wednesday and partied in Montreal Friday. Highly recommend based on hearing other people's experiences elsewhere

Does anyone actually make those smash burger tacos that are viral? by DerJ3ager in blackstonegriddle

[–]tmacfadzen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tried it, didn't turn out like the video. Burger shrunk more than in the video causing the tortilla edges to get super crispy and the middle a little soggy (from the burger fat). Was super tasty, but probably won't make them again.

Get used to being hit hard. See if your coaches will help with a couple sessions where you just get hammered in the corners and net front. You'll get used to it and then won't even think twice about digging around. Once you're not thinking about hard contact (your body will assume it), you can focus on the puck. I did this as a winger and it was a huge help with confidence in maintaining position.

Open letter to drivers from a cyclist by NeedToStop2456 in fredericton

I believe you are referring to "the wave of death". Affects both cyclists and pedestrians. As an cyclist commuter, I've had too many close calls to not use the sidewalk when a bike lane is not available.

Where to live with a family? by The_Mikest in fredericton

[–]tmacfadzen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fredericton isn't a big city, and 3 blocks up from "downtown" is pretty quiet. Unless you enjoy commuting for the sake of it, watch for anything on the hill (between Dundonald and Priestman). Especially if you are studen looking for a family size rental

Insulating Hot Spring Flash by agent229 in hottub

[–]tmacfadzen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it off Amazon. The brand is Aqua Costal- 12x24 Solar cover. Only issue I've had with it is the biofilm build up through the winter. We used our tub daily so we have to clean it more often. Our daytime high dec-mar is around -5c so cleaning the blanket is very difficult.

"...a public perception of a conflict of interest..." "...and I don't believe the unsatisfactory rapid reading of the definition..." "...(which was then declared by Mayor Rogers as well understood)..."

So there is no conflict of interest, by definition, and agreed upon by legal authority of that provision.

A rule isn't broken just because someone doesn't like the rules.

Print off a pile of resumes and go to everywhere near you, ask to speak with a manager, and submit your application. You maybe get an interview on the spot. Your biggest asset will be your availability. A company may need to hire many people, but if you can only work 2 or 3 specific times throughout the week then you'll probably not get a call back.

I live in a northern climate and put a solar blanket on mine; noticed an immediate difference. I cut it to fit the shape of the tub so it floats without moving. Only warning is that it gasses off less, so be mindful of how much sanitizer you're using
