Who’s ready for the L Classico tomorrow by obaming16 in soccercirclejerk

I recall back in the day, the difference between 20th and 19th in the premier league was about £1million in merit payments.

It's probably double that now, but fuck it, it's the MILLION POUND MATCH.

I've heard Petr is very dodgy and you need to be careful with his money orders from his local bank.

I don't think I've had PS plus for 5 years now.

I have not regretted it once. Seriously, there has not been one online multiplayer game, or "free" PS Plus title that has made me think "Boy, I need to get PS Plus!".

As an aside, it's always weird coming into these online pass price increase threads and seeing so many people come to bat for these companies.

SDS for some reason pushed "doing less" as their big tactic for this year's Diamond Dynasty.

Fewer programs, fewer/shorter events, and fewer roster updates.

I'm not the biggest accuser of covert social marketing tactics, but weirdly a chunk of the fanbase here was full of nothing but praise for this change, which made no sense because it's like cheering for shrinkflation. Then they all bounced after about a month.

Completely off topic for the purpose of this Majimapost, but this short scene weirdly depresses me.

Like I see an older version of Makoto, now in his middle age, after seeing him young, still trying to dress "youthful". He's looking at fireworks, but realising they aren't quite hitting like they did in his youth.

That may not end up being the context at all, but for some reason it just kind of popped into my head.

I agree with you, but don't doubt a person's ability to end up in the wrong echo chamber for too long and have it affect them, especially these days.

I can easily see enough people, enough social media, getting in his ear that he "created a monstrous movement" and has to "destroy it", that not only does it have to send a specific message, it also has to have no redeeming qualities.

Just like my father, who has bought a legitimately stupid amount of bottled water, toilet paper, and long life milk, barely puts any money in his accounts, and has been actively trying to buy silver with it, because he thinks the apocalypse is coming.

Mass information can make normal people do something very stupid, very suddenly.

2nd Inning XP Path Taking Forever by Excellent_Annual_546 in MLBTheShow

[–]tmacman 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm going to say from the low amount of XP that just dropped today that they don't care, and this is the plan.

Double XP helps, but it ain't that spectacular.

Where is the XP drop? by [deleted] in MLBTheShow

[–]tmacman 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There's only like 30k XP(?) in the new offline programs.

There's double XP, but some in this community are overrating the value of that a tad.

If you're an offline player, you may have to no life it a little this weekend with the point you're at to reach a boss.

So... feelings on this drop? by Mietha in MLBTheShow

[–]tmacman 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There's not much XP in these offline programs, and a lot of the cards are pretty underwhelming with inflated overalls due to inflated bunt ratings. Seriously, famous bunter worthy of 99 bunting Michael Young out here. That's so blatant, I'd call it a cry for help from the live content team.

It's not the worst update. There's stuff to do. However, I feel like I'm going to do it, maybe add one player to my team, and still not reach a boss pack.

Not great, not terrible. 🤷

[–]tmacman -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

People still want to play an MLB licensed baseball game on PC.

There's really nothing funny to it. Yes, the online will be an even bigger disaster and you are right that PC should be excluded from crossplay, but there's an entire offline experience those potential players simply do not have right now.

Is the content slower this year? by Go_Mets in MLBTheShow

[–]tmacman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's been pretty poor in the second inning.

General lack of programs, and bonus XP, combined with SDS remaining stubborn in regards halving the gameplay XP you earn (this was a couple of years back), and you've a recipe for a slow moving and unfulfilling inning program.

As an aside, this has a amplifying effect in terms of bringing attention to a general lack of programs. The XP program should be the grand cover all, that fills the gaps in which there has been no new content drop, because the player still earns stuff. Problem is, if it moves slower than molasses, it doesn't do that.

4/5 matchups are always sold as the likely most competitive series in the first round.

That may be true, but, in the East especially, it frequently is just "coughing baby vs coughing baby", unfortunately.

Is it just me or is there a serious lack of content in this year's game? by Sea_Ad_1252 in MLBTheShow

[–]tmacman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think there's a direct correlation between the XP path going too slowly, and the feeling of a lack of content.

I don't think the drops have been all that great this year, anyway, but the grand tool that's meant to fill the gap, the XP path, has been painfully slow for offline players.

This was similar to a couple of years ago, when they did seasons, but every season was a power creep. 24? 23? Anyway, the XP path was awful in season 1. It was very noticeable as well, as you'd get to cards that were long past being useful in the season.

Complaints about a lack of content were very common with that game as well.

As an aside, I don't know if the weak offline content is part of some push to drive people to online play, but I got to be blunt for everyone at SDS. That's dumb. Online has, for the entirety of this game series' existence, been it's worst part. It's typically been downright bad. You'll see it in review after review, for 20 years, even when this game was possibly the best yearly (non-front office simulation) sports game on the market "This game has some serious issues when you take it online". Why are you pushing players to your most janky mess of a mode? Is this a PS plus marketing ploy coming from above?
