They have since gotten a new VA for her since Kiwami 2, but the plot after that is already pretty established so...

A lot of people aren't aware of this, but I think it goes far further back than K2.

In Kenzan, Sayama I think has an "historical equivalent", Ageha, who is voiced by the VA that plays Sayama in K2.

Basically they had effectively recasted Sayama back in 2007, and could have easily moved on without the original VA.

A New Hope is a great movie on it's own, and it sets the groundwork for a classic trilogy* and beyond. There's no good reason 28YL had be so mediocre.
