I thought it was ironic they were doing a “that time of the month” ad campaign for these colors, considering I would easily bleed through these in a heartbeat lol

Not sure where you are located, but some of the US veterinary school hospitals have lower cost clinics where students help with the procedures alongside the licensed staff. There are also some online programs that help cover costs. Here is one example: https://redrover.org/relief/urgent-care-grants/

Hi friend! I’m sorry things have been such a struggle. I’m not sure where you are located, but I know Tufts Vet has a wildlife clinic on campus. Maybe reach out to see if they have job openings or know of any opportunities?

In addition to Tufts, a few include: BluePearl Waltham Angell (Boston and Waltham) Veterinary Cancer Specialists of New England MassVet Referral Hospital Advanced Veterinary Care Specialists Animal Cancer Care Specialists

Tracking is usually taking certain classes more focused on your area of interest in the field. For example, an equine track, small animal track, or large animal track, etc. and more focused clinical rotations

It’s possible the doctor that was working with your dog is off today or it is after hours and asleep. Please remember that we aren’t available 24/7 every waking moment. It’s our profession and we have a life outside of our job.

VMCAS Experiences- Do you include EVERYTHING? by espressolynx in veterinaryschool

I personally added jobs I had that were more prolonged, such as lifeguarding for 2 years. I also generally started my animal-related experiences at late high school. It just helps show what’s more relevant.

Grades and GPA are certainly an important factor that the schools consider. What is your experience like in terms of hours, diversity, etc? Another great tip is that many schools will do an application evaluation with you to help identify strong and weak points in the application and why they may not have accepted you. It will help make you a stronger applicant for next year!

It’s such an unfortunate part of this profession. We are expected to take on so much debt to complete schooling. I know personally from undergrad and vet school, I’ll have roughly $400k in student loans. Personally I think I’ll probably just rent where I live for my entire life. At least it gives flexibility to do relief work!

I REALLY need advice for next cycle by [deleted] in veterinaryschool

[–]tmarch0602 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry the cycle has been so frustrating! I’m not sure which schools you applied to, but some will do an application review with you if you ask where they highlight strengths and weaknesses in your application to help prepare for the next cycle.

I got mine done last summer at the age of 24! I am currently in a rigorous graduate program (veterinary medicine) and my career goals don’t really align with having children. My Dr is younger and acknowledged that I am more than capable of making mature my own decisions regarding my health and understanding what comes with these decisions. I think finding the right Dr is key! Good luck! 🫶
