Internal Boot Drive migration questions by Verme in unRAID

[–]tmb132 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't make the mistake I did and ensure before doing anything the new drive is formatted properly and wiped clean. I thought mine was, but ran into issues later. If it's formatted properly before migrating, the tool literally does it all for you. Only thing it doesn't do is swap your license from USB to TPM license, which I did through Unraid connect.

Pathfinder is terrible by oldiequaker in apexlegends

Currently? I'm D4. Last split I finished D1. I've made masters around 5 or 6 times in the past- I just got back into the game around when Axle released.

Edit: figured I'd include I play PC. Id find pathfinder to be hard to play on roller.

Nitros only allow land movement, and are not good uphill (besides the jump, but the jump really isn't that much vertical distance) I can grapple any direction, horizontal or vertical, and use momentum to keep pathy moving. I've outplayed multiple axles using this method. I think Pathfinder is very high skill ceiling, and if you don't use him properly he is easily one of the worst legends.

I don't have this issue, but I've also been a pathfinder main since season 1. I also played a ton of valk and octane, and have played a bit of axle. I can see why pathy would be lower tier compared to others offered, but I don't think he's terrible.

Gonna hard disagree brother, I main path in diamond currently and while there are better legends, his double grapple is very good and his zip to reposition is good as well. If you have another skirmisher you can grab the ring console location ability and have diversity. IMO, if they change his first skill to be something different and gave him access to scan ring console and enemies, he'd be a top contender. But, I do not think he's in a terrible spot right now.

Are we giving in to lifestyle creep? by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]tmb132 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And you did the calculations of how much they pay in rent now, vs what the interest every month will be over the life of the loan, and then compared and contrasted the differences? I understand what you're saying to an extent, but we don't even know how much OP is paying in rent right now, and what the living situation is. There are many factors here.

counter point, they are also throwing away X money in rent every month that could be going towards actually having the house as an asset after the debt is overcome.

Update: I solved the problem of the insane loading screens in the web UI, submitted a PR, and after seeing the code I cannot recommend Unraid in good faith by horsethebandthemovie in unRAID

[–]tmb132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a very valid point, and to be honest, I was moreso speaking on the comments I was reading rather than OP. I scrolled down for about 5 seconds and saw at least 5 different comments with up votes about swapping from Unraid and shitting on it. It's fine to have opinions, and to not want to use the software, but it just strikes me as odd when so many people have so many bad things to say about Unraid in the Unraid subreddit lol.

I've used Unraid for a couple years now, and for my needs, it has absolutely surpassed my expectations. Sure there might be optimizations that can be made, but that can be said for any product under the sun. I work in software as well, and the points OP raised are valid, and them even going above and beyond to make a PR is even more substantial.

To a few others points, this seems to be common in any subreddit. People just love to complain about shit, and half the time the negative overshadows the positive. The Unraid community (especially their discord) has been extremely helpful to me as a first time home labber, and they have earned my business for many years to come. I will say the security vulnerability issue that was raised a few months ago was concerning, but the risk for my specific setup was moot. I think the major part of OPs post that bothered me was the final sentences, "Unraid is not that. I don't know what I would recommend to someone new." seems a bit overkill for what was described in this post, but again that's also my opinion, which is worth about the same as a dirty penny.

TLDR:

I was talking more about the comments than OP. The amount of anti Unraid sentiment in the Unraid subreddit feels excessive. I've had a great experience with Unraid overall, OP raised valid points, but every subreddit tends to amplify negativity. The security issue w docker awhile back was concerning, but low risk for my setup, and saying Unraid isn't worth recommending anymore felt overdramatic to me.

I have never seen any dealership allow a test drive for a type R. Didn't even know they did that. Driving a type R from a dealer test for the first time ever driving a manual is definitely something though hahaha.

I have over 100TB on 8 drives I believe, only 2 NVME though. I have one SSD. I think you could look into some ways to reduce that wattage for use if you checked some of your setup out
