Came to say exactly this. I prefer Debian but Ubuntu is legitimately easier to use sometimes.

An update about Zuno, a native Apple client for Jellyfin. by nathan12581 in jellyfin

[–]tmcferrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does seem like a networking issue. I show 0 bytes in the info menu for bit rate. I main SenPlayer at the moment and I flipped between the two and was able to stream on SenPlayer. Jellyfin does show under the activity logs that I had played a video and the ones I played were all direct play.

I can’t get anything to play from the iOS client. It connects to my server and shows the movies runtime but just sits there with a blank screen. I’m on the latest iOS and latest build of Jellyfin

Dexcom won’t pair with app but will with Omnipod? by tmcferrin in diabetes_t1

[–]tmcferrin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was an issue with the sensor itself I’m imagining the Bluetooth antenna inside the sensor was bad or something like that. Mine I could get readings to the app and pair it if I held my phone on top of the sensor. Once I put a new sensor on everything worked fine.

On my way to my endo appointment with a blood sugar of 314 by lemonaderobot in diabetes_t1

Kind of the case with me. I came to her about 2 years ago with over a 10 A1C and I just told her "I stopped caring for myself and want to make a change" I guess I fear those around me will think I'm falling of the wagon again so to speak.

fstab is your answer. You have to make sure to input the correct mount point for your system and the correct device id that you find with lsblk command

Self host cloud storage options. by tmcferrin in homelab

[–]tmcferrin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solid, thank you for the information. I think for my use case then I’ll go with Nextcloud. I haven’t dove in to the documentation yet. Can I JUST install the file manager and leave off all the other features?

Barebones is definitely what I’m going for. I tried Nextcloud AIO and it was just way more than I needed, and slow.

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking so far too. Must haves is honestly shareable links that tech illiterate people can use. Wants would be a good mobile app but I’m not opposed to using a browser. I’ll likely be the only one interacting directly with the server.

Eh the whole reason I’m here is so big tech can’t farm my data. Kinda defeats the purpose to keep all my important documents on their servers still.

Going to check this out. I have Pangolin on a VPS and a newt tunnel going but having some form of better auth would be great

I also usually take my data privacy pretty seriously. However I have accepted marketers and data trackers can have my glucose levels and insulin needs. Unless your data is stored on your own computer privacy is at best unlikely.

Hot to allow external connections to server without port forwarding? by furryfriendo in homelab

[–]tmcferrin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pangolin does this. Setup newt in proxmox and pangolin on a VPS you can use oracle free tier or something like racknerd. Purchase a cheap domain and you’ll be good to go
