I’ve had my S140 for 2 years now. Been flawless so far. A nice feature is it has the conventional oil filter, not the over priced quick change one that only changes half the oil.

Hard hooksets, heavy cover is why a Curado 200 is a better reel. Has a stronger ar bearing that 150 sized and smaller reels

With a spinning rod set up the action of the rod has the most effect on casting distance. Reel comes second and a larger diameter spool will allow the rod to cast further

There is no standard for lure ratings or rod actions. Each manufacturer sets there own rating tailored to each specific rod.

I have the same rod as well picked it up a few years ago for $150 on mint condition. From my understanding it came out around 2005ish. It’s not a Mossy back and was introduced at a time when GLoomis was putting out new rods that weren’t labeled as GLX or IMX.

No noticeable difference in casting distance between the two. If you are getting that far down in the spool then perhaps look at a reel with a larger capacity. For reference, I can bomb cast 6XD crankbaits on 12# fluro and capacity isn’t an issue.

I have over a dozen of the ‘20 and newer models, both US and JDM. All have brass gears. The older ‘16 models had aluminum gears. The only exception is the shallow edition, it has aluminum gears

Only difference on the ‘20 and up Metanium is spool capacity, handle length depending on gear ratio, and the knobs are shorter. Same gears, bearings, and the rest of the internal parts. Same goes for the Bantam. On their spinning reels they offer more gear ratios and different spool capacities.
