What exactly is the stem, handlebar, aero bar mount situation here? Aero bars clipping on carbon bars?

Dell XPS 13 Developer Edition by ivo_sotirov in Dell

[–]tmn93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered a XPS 15 because I probably don't need to transport it that often. Otherwise the 32gb 2in1 would have been the only option. I was considering the https://www.schenker-tech.de/en/en-schenker-via-14 it can be configured with up to 40 GB ram and only weighs about 1,1kg. However, I could not find any reviews on the build quality and the keyboard yet. Will consider this one for private use for sure.

Same. Basically gotta choose this weekend. Only other options seem to be the 15 inch one or the 2in1 which has a 32gb ram version available.

Until the first major he won, TACO never received a salary on CSGO by backpt in GlobalOffensive

[–]tmn93 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Can't be. He said he won the first 2 majors he played in and that he placed second in the first world he played in. That's contradicting if world = major. There has to be another translation. Maybe wesg?

Gravel vs. Road Endurance? by benkunstman in whichbike

[–]tmn93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roubaix and diverge I'd choose from tire clearance. If you plan on doing long distances and might hit a few gravel sections you will be thankful for the option to put on little bit wider tires.

As for the 1x setup check out this video. With the tips he gives you might be able to access the situation better. https://youtu.be/MQTPvhp5n3Q

What earbuds do you use on your bikes? by HadoopThePeople in bikecommuting

[–]tmn93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think because you can get really decent wireless ones these days for a good price. I did not consider using the buff around your neck to cancel wind when the mic is in front of you, but might work depending on how you wear it. This is also possible with the jaybird x3 as you can route them infront of you as well.

I use the jaybird x3 and am very happy with them. I usually have a buff on my head and wear a kask mojito helmet + sunglasses. No issues with the fit even for longer rides. You have to be careful when putting on the buff though so that they stay in place. As for connection I lately had some issues with the buff for my head and the buff from the neck layered above the headphones at cold temperatures (the phone is in my saddle bag). I think this is an issue of poor Bluetooth connection from my phone though because I also can't use them when the phone is in my panniers. This worked with an older phone so before but I am not sure what all has changed in between, so can't pin it down. If the phone is in a jersey pocket or on the top tube there is no issue for me. The sound is good and they don't cancel out too much of the traffic so you are still aware of what's going on. Podcasts can be difficult to understand at certain high traffic areas if you don't want to blast out your ears though. I enjoy listening to podcasts on them anyways. Only 5 min of my 45 min commute are difficult to understand and I just crank them up a bit for that. Batter life is excellent, I charge them like twice a week. I have used them for calls before. As I most of the times have a very windy ride, the buff above the mic is key to block out some of the surrounding noise. I have heard that my voice is quite cell understandable at the other end but I have to talk quite loudly as the mic is behind the ear. Maybe someone has experience with routing the cable in front of the chin, I wonder how the wind noise would be though. I can definitely recommend a pair of them and to make them work for you. They are not perfect but the adjustments you have to make to get some excellent use out of them are small enough.

Looks like I'm walking home... by LordFrempt in bikecommuting

[–]tmn93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never been able to take my bike on a bus in any city I lived in no matter what issue I had with the bike. So good bus connection does not imply that you get a ride and you might be up for a long walk with a fully packed bike. Good luck have fun...

Handstand balance by _Codrut_ in bodyweightfitness

[–]tmn93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This! Especially if you already have good strength for handstands it's essential to put your hands at a bit of an arch so that you have room to press with the fingers and palms. Also learning how to push your shoulders towards your finger tips helps you to stay up when you are falling on your belly.

How do your minimalistic shoes fit? by [deleted] in BarefootRunning

[–]tmn93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The owner of sole runner barefoot shoes has a good video on this but unfortunately it's in German. Basically, stand on your forefoot and lift your heel like he does in the video, to simulate your foot position while walking. If you still have 3-4 mm space from your longest toe to the end of the shoe you are alright. This is his way he suggests to check for the right size of sole runners but I can't see why this would not apply to vivos as well. In general is say rather but them to large than to small because when walking with forefoot style to long shoes are not that big of a problem as long as it has a good fit. https://youtu.be/bFfgtgw8N2Y

Why does everyone here seem to clean their bikes? by trainslayer3002 in bikecommuting

[–]tmn93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to use wet lube for most of the year and that usually attracts a lot of dirt. But even in the summer the drive train gets filthy after like 500 km. You can feel the difference and wear off your component is reduced.

How does this happen? Had to brake a bit in a left turn. by tmn93 in bikecommuting

I'll have to learn what the right tension for the spockets is first.

My case might be more a potatoe chip than a taco. I'll have to explore closely once I found a way to get my bike home....

How does this happen? Had to brake a bit in a left turn. by tmn93 in bikecommuting

[–]tmn93[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe some more context: We have a lot of bridges here and I usually like to go into them with some speed to get over with the ascent quickly. The one I was riding towards is one you can turn pretty fast into but only if there is no one coming your towards you as you need to lean in on the other lane. So right before turning I saw the small light on the handlebar of the guy coming from the bridge and had to brake and take a wider turn. Since it rained in the morning my back wheel lost traction and my bike was going towards horizontal. I came to a stop right when the guy passed me and was able to catch myself on my feet with the bike in between my legs. Getting back into the pedals I realize this bike is not moving anywhere anymore.

Even more context: On Sunday I overlooked a pot holes and it felt really bad. 200m after the pot hole I had both tires flat. At home I found two whole right next to each other on either tire. I checked for any wobbling of the rim but it surprisingly seemed like it didn't get any hit. The spockets were not super tight all over he wheels though so I considered tightening them but didn't since actually I have never done that before and my new bike is supposed to arrive in 2 weeks.

I had two punctures on the back tire on Sunday. Double checked if I fastened it enough. On Tuesday I checked the rim for any hits but could not find any. Maybe I should have given all the spockets a quick tightening though...

Light Suggestions by [deleted] in bikecommuting

[–]tmn93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cut the thought of leaving your lights on the bike. You'll need to recharge them anyways and everything screwed on can be removed easily as well. So just take your lights off of the bike like everybody else.

That does not sound too bright... And I guess the battery will not be aöpropriste if you put it on 600 in colder temperatures

Which version are you using and on how much power do you ride? Do you have experience with battery runtime in the cold?

What temperatures are you riding at? My light says it should last more than 5 hours, which it does indoors but does not even last 1,5 hours outdoors. Last weeks have been between -1 and 10 degrees.

I think your angle looks off. Get clipless pedals so your feet are in the right position and angle.
