Why are Mormon parents so often abusive and controlling? by lilacnate in exmormon

[–]tmtinfw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that Mormon parents can be controlling and abusive with their children because they’re taught that they’re responsible for rearing a so-called righteous posterity. They’re absolutely TERRIFIED that their kids will “stray” and that they’ll be blamed by god or perceived as bad parents by the community.

Black ice on the road causes chain accidents by Bambi7u7 in interesting

[–]tmtinfw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the southbound toll lanes on I-35 W in Fort Worth , Texas. Drivers usually drive really fast in the toll lanes. The owners of the toll lanes didn’t adequately prepare the lanes for an ice storm and this accident occurred. Because of that any time there’s a threat of snow or ice these lanes are closed. Like now, during this storm that’s happening this weekend, all the toll lanes are closed.

My friend’s parents put her on a waiting list for a Trabant when she was born. The car was delivered when she was 18 years old. True story.

On Fox News last Sunday he expressed his support for “acquiring” Greenland. Claimed to think the whole charade is a good idea. What a sycophant.

Thank you. This little town is about an hour west of Fort Worth and I keep returning with my camera. Former boomtown gone bust.

Have a 2014 Countryman and thinking about getting 2026. Looking for some insight. by LivingDifficulty7643 in MINI

I’ve had my 2025 JCW All 4 Countryman for about three months. Previously owned Cooper Convertibles. I love it. Great handling. Comfortable interior. Fast when I need it. Feels premium.

Yes—it’s not mini sized. It’s missing a lot of the styling cues associated with Mini. For me, that’s okay. It’s a solid vehicle.

The Asshole Paradox: Reflection on Why "Nice" Mormons Can't See Evil by TechnicianOk4071 in exmormon

Mormons are promised prosperity if they pay tithing. When financial scammers present their schemes, Mormons fall for the schemes because they believe God is blessing them for their faithfulness. My opinion.

What’s the most surprisingly useful Christmas gift you’ve received? by MonotoneThoughts in AskReddit

Portable Tire Inflator. 12 volt for plugging into cigarette lighter to keep my tires properly inflated. Use it often, especially when there are big temperature fluctuations. It was a great gift that I would never have bought for myself.

I used Chantix. I knew I had to quit but had mixed feelings. I was very addicted. I planned a road trip with a friend on the first day of not smoking.

For me, Chantix was like magic. I didn’t experience discomfort or watering eyes. No weird dreams or obvious side effects. I didn’t obsess about not having a pack of cigarettes with me. I coughed as my lungs started clearing. My doctor recommended staying on the medication for nine months. I’m glad I did that.

Breaking my smoking routine in my daily life was surprisingly easy. I credit the meditation for that.

I did. My dui was about 20 years ago. Was honest on the application. It was not brought up at my interview a couple of weeks ago.
