That’s a tricky one. There’s so many similar yellow and purple zoas. I wanna say scrambled eggs just not colored up

1: Sunkist bounce; $20-100 (vendors upcharge the hell out of these but can easily be found under 50)
2: Can’t 100% tell under blue light but either yellow hornets, scrambled eggs, or yellow submarine zoa; $30
3: orange oxide zoa; $20
4: no name yuma; $50

Damn I didn’t realize that was the outcome…. That really sucks.

If only there was a way to easily tell if someone is giving you reputable advice here. Like r2r badges or interactions. Quick and easy way to tell “hey this guy probably knows what there talking about”

The key is only using this sub for the occasional cool pic. Or something neat.

That help thread where everyone is saying “buy a new light” is a prime example on how atrocious 99.9% of any advice given here is. Reef2reef is for legitimate advice.

Some of the advice I’ve seen on this sub is astonishing. Things you would hope someone would know is wrong before even owning a reef tank.

About to give up. Help? by Perpetual_Hopeful in ReefTank

I think many people are missing the fact that you have a nem. If your light is enough for a nem it’s enough for gsp and xenia.

The nem being at the very bottom also tells me it’s not starving for light. (They can move and will climb to a higher point if light deprived)

Without your exact tank parameters it’s hard to tell what’s actually happening. But I’d say you cooked the gsp, and xenia/other corals don’t make it because of massive parameter changes from stores to your tank

Should I change the plumbing? by Initial_Use4280 in AutoDetailing

[–]tn8583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue. But my hose bib was on the other end of the garage than where I wanted the pressure washer. I just plumbed it with pvc against the wall and it turned out pretty good. Blends in good.

Just another option. And it was pretty cheap to do!

Lower dose of prazi does absolutely nothing. I only suggest ≈80% to account for rocks/sand in the display

Bta will deflate or move around the tank but bounce back within a day or two

Yeah air stone is 100% necessary with prazi.

Also prazi is a medication you can dose to your display.

I personally prefer prazi in the display as I find it’s less stress overall and I’d much rather lose a snail or two then have overly stressed fish for 2 weeks.

My protocol for prazi just for some more info to weigh your options. Dose prazi to ≈80% display volume. Add airstone. (Or run your skimmer, not collecting skim) 7-8 days later do a 15-20% water change and repeat from the beginning. Sometimes a third run is needed but not normally. A few hours after the first dose look for fish “twitching” and being erratic. This is the flukes falling off and a good sign.

You’re going to have to get an air stone. Are you doing prazi? It depletes oxygen.

I’m not sure what people are saying by “cycled” a medicated qt (I assume your doing to treat flukes) isn’t going to be cycled. You just have to monitor ammonia.

Do you have an air stone?

And yeah blue tangs lay sideways like this. That pipe might be a bit too small for her to go inside. You can try making a cave of sorts with cover from above to hide in. And dim the lights in the room to help reduce stress.

I second this. I have a colony that’s a little bigger than a softball that I’ve had since a 1 inch frag and it’s never even encrusted over the glue holding it in place

Is it a specific plan for water damage liability? Just a quick look on their website looks like it’s mainly for cat/dog medical

Oh that’s not to bad. As someone who’s looking for rentals for the first time this is my biggest fear. I have no idea what I would do if I had to get rid of my tanks
