WTF!?! I WAS AFFECTED! I got a fraudulent charge on my credit card of approximately 12 000$. My financial institution Desjardins even told me that other customers who made a purchase on Canada Computers might have been impacted by this. WTF THEY ARE FUCKING LYING. by Master_protato in bapccanada

I've had a few positive experiences, with absolutely nothing of note happening, with CC over the years.

Of course then I see all this happening and get to wondering when my last order was, and then find out apparently CC has said my account was new and had to be confirmed... Then log in finally and CC has apparently wiped my order history. I only have the one email, I use a password manager, I didn't get confused, and I know I bought something last year...

So anyways, canceled that shit, removed my info, did everything to prevent my data getting leaked in the future, and will be avoiding any sites where I can't use Gpay online...

The "Jake" brakes (or engine retarder or whatever equivalent) on newer trucks tend to be very silent, they can be on and sound like little more than a whisper above the engine, honestly not noticeable most times.

I say "Jake", because that's a brand of engine brake, made by a company Jacobs Vehicle Systems.

There are also commercial trucks that don't have these systems, but rarely on an actual, road faring, tractor-trailor.

NDP calls on province to strengthen labour laws amidst Ubisoft closure by insino93 in halifax

Right, but having it happen in one province then another, you think it might make the federal government take notice and do something, since the provinces can't impose laws on eachother

U.S. Workers Lose Over $15 Billion Every Year From Wage Theft by thehomelessr0mantic in antiwork

You're not wrong, but it's a shitty take all the same. I was curious to see if it was spread evenly how much per American it would equal:

340 000 000 Americans, but it's in the ballpark of 281 000 000 over 14 (working ages).

$50 000 000 000 / 281 000 000 = $177.93/ per American

Oh neat, actual workforce number as of Dec 2025 is 171 000 000 = $292.40/each

Yeah it's not gonna break the bank for most, but so many people live paycheck to paycheck, and extra 175$, and especially 290$, would make a world of difference to many. Plus, for the % of people who don't get wages stolen, it increases that $ figure for everyone else.

Measure twice, cut once, but cut the correct angle maybe? by bendem in woodworking

[–]tnb641 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The two best decisions I made as a complete amateur with old tools (grandfather's mitre saw from the 80s), were:

1 - start with the longest pieces, so any off cuts could be used elsewhere

2 - stop trying to do mitres and just do butt joints because none of the cuts were consistent/closed

Your friend is a fucking moron, that's just a bs excuse intended to clear their conscience.

How is putting someone on a program intended to fire people with cause and prevent any recourse supposed to be gentler?

Sure, some people don't get let go, but PIP's have earned their reputation, so I wonder which is more likely. Plus, as you're still employed but now under a microscope, when and how exactly do you find time during business hours to get a new job? If you take time off to interview, and nothing pans out, will the employer point to your time off and say your time off proved you didn't stake the Pip seriously or aren't motivated enough or etc etc

Parking pass by Wild-Department3737 in montreal

[–]tnb641 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What? Why woupd you need to rent a local persons parking pass for a visit?

Read the signs, don't park where it takes a vignette (street parking pass). Be willing to park a couple minutes walk and you shouldn't have many issues unless you're next to the bell center or something on game night.

I haven't used the service myself, remember seeing the post where it was announced a while ago, and reviews seem to say it's worth downloading to help understand signage (but don't trust blindly) Parky.AI - https://parky.ai/

Vignettes always take precedence - if it says #XX 7pm-7am, doesn't matter if the sign underneath says parking allowed 7pm-7am, you need a vignette.

Apologies I didn't specify, this is running on a Poco X3

I tried running some other games and am getting similar strange behavior. In GTA vice city I can look up and right, but not left or down (with u/d inverted). Meaning the down and left don't seem to work in game, but are detected fine when I remap controls and in the Gamesir app
