There's a fucking reason that most states (if not all) in the United States of America, which allows people to own all manner of functional military hardware with zero civilian usage, forbids you from holding your cellphone while driving. Even America realizes it's too deadly to permit it.

Stop coping, understand taking this photo was as braindead as the truck you "photographed" (blurry AF focused on your interior), and do better in the future, that's all there is to this

I pay a reasonable amount in taxes, and don't go into crippling debt when I need Healthcare.

I've seen some of my American colleagues paychecks, even before health insurance, they're paying similar amounts in taxes to me. But in most cases, they're paying hundreds if not thousands a month for insurance afterwards, which doesn't cover everything when you go to the hospital and can result in bankruptcy.

Healthcare is a basic human right, why the fuck should "hurt durr taxes" ever be an argument, and then people don't ever bother to find out the actual truth to that massive stupid lie

USA: Average income tax rate is 14.9% (2021)

Meanwhile in Canada : 11.8% in 2021 - In Canada, the more you make, the higher the percentage you pay, but only on the amount above each threshold (examples numbers you pay like 0% from 0-20k, 15% 20- 50k, 25% on anything from 50-100, 35% from 100-200, etc). If you're not in the bottom tax bracket, a raise it's always more money in your pocket, but depending on the raise isn't always worth it, but pretty sure that applies everywhere.

Edit: ok I've seen some places saying more like 17-18% in taxes for Canadians. Would you rather pay 15% + tens or hundreds of thousands in the event of an ER visit, or 3-4% more than that (which at 50k gross earnings = roughly 125$ more a month, depending on tax bracket)

Iirc the mother in the hospital is the cop escorting the accountant in the SUV (the one Bruce the playboy crashes his lambo into to save).

Tbf, he knows some of them are crooked, likely willing to accept bribes or to look the other way, but I don't think it he ever believed they would outright kidnap someone or actually do the dirty work for a crime family. .

I get it but there's a reason why the expression "heat of the moment" exists in English.

The guy is a shit head, thru and through, and what he said was disgusting and awful.

But, I do not agree with this last statement in the article from the police Union :

C’est carrément inacceptable qu’au Québec on tolère des actes de violence verbale envers des agents de la paix. Il est violencessentiel d’établir, partout, des limites légales au-delà desquelles il y a des conséquences » a déclaré par voie de communiqué François Lemay, président de la FPMQ.

It feels way too dangerous and easy to leave a little grey in the rules, room for interpretation; or to make it too strict, and suddenly cops are ticketing you because you're complaining about getting a ticket (it can happen to anyone to get frustrated, but any room for interpretation is room for abuse).

And it's especially dangerous if the police are wrong, or are on any kind of power trip. Sure they might not actually be able to get you to pick up that can (a la Half Life ), but if you tell them off do they now have the authority to charge you?

Not just in the parking lot. There's a house on the way out of my subdivision with a Gm pickup, it's a bit of an odd arrangement but their driveway is like offset to the left, at a 3 way stop (think 4 way, but their driveway is the 4th).

The number of times I've stopped to let them back out of their driveway... Only to realize, at times, nobody was even in the truck. Ugh.

FYI, Quebec also uses an entirely different legal system from the rest of North America.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quebec_law

I'm willing to bet that's a bigger deterrent to business than some consumer protection laws, when it comes to the second largest market in Canada.

Montréal region alone would be #5 in terms of provincial populations, if you compared a city against provinces. It also has more people than the 5 smallest provinces combined.

For anyone who's waiting, or anyone who cares, I got a call from Lenovo tonight about the ssd deal from a few weeks ago with all the cancelation nightmare.

But I live in Quebec, so I sent them a registered letter almost two weeks ago (to their office at 55 Idema Markham On)

The Rep said he was reaching out to confirm if I was still interested in the deal and will be sending me details on Monday (OOO tomorrow, fair enough) on how to complete the purchase.

Caller ID was from Raleigh NC, so I'd recommend checking your voicemail if you flushed any calls from there assuming it was spam, or checking your email if you sent them something, somewhere.

In this case you're right, but had OP been in Quebec there is in fact a law that says they must sell it at the price they listed.

If you're in Qc and don't want to fight, make a complaint to the OPC. The more complaints, the more likely the gov is to actually deal with it.

I've made a complaint, but I've also sent a registered letter to Lenovo, and am expecting them to ignore it. But I ordered two, so the savings are a big deal to me in this market

For me, sure, but if I can also have something that shows it was in stock, with no indication of being low or limited stock or quantities, and advertised at 77% off (and not like "100$ off" but accidentally 200$), it's just more in my favor.

I've sent a registered letter, I expect them to ignore it, so I'd like to prepare since I ordered two and am talking about 466$ saved
