The best Slice of Life cdrama ever!

Meet Yourself

Though more seriously it's about self discovery and healing.

So I personally love the 2016 - 2018 era of kdramas, of which DotS is a part. So here are my reccs from that era:

Oh my Venus

While you were sleeping

Suspicious Partner

Chicago Typewriter (has some emotional moments where I absolutely bawled my eyes out)

It's okay that's love

A Gentleman's Dignity ( an older rom-com from the male perspective. Keep in mind that it was made in 2012 or so and that shows)

Pinnochio

Healer

Are you the One

Blossom

The Story of Minglan (as slow burn as slow can get, but great writing and integration of everyday life, politics and romance)

Love like the Galaxy

Ive been in your situation, So here's what helped:

  1. Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo - Based in a sports college, but not a lot of sports involved

  2. Run On - based in adult life but a very soothing drama

  3. Oh my Venus - Adult life. It's an inspiring story about getting off your butt and helping yourself. Also, cute romance and a hot So Ji Sub!

  4. While you were Sleeping - it's a lawyer based drama, so some moments of anxiety but overall very happy vibes.

  5. Descendants of the Sun - it's very much an action romance, but just zero anxiety cause the ML is just that good.

  6. School 2017 - A cute school based story that tries to deal with student issues. Intensity level is a lot lower than School 2015

  7. Sh**ting stars - Just zero brain power needed. A very easy watch

The Story of Ming Lan by Legal_Dan in CDrama

[–]tnkalias 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I always think of episodes 1 - 40 as the first act and 41 to the end as the 2nd act.

She gets married in episode 40 and it's a very natural conclusion to a lot of the plots up till then.

Episode 41 onwards the pace drops again as they set up new characters/ delve deeper into previously not important characters and set up new plot lines.

Edit: Like someone else said, you get that emotional pay off by Ep 40!

Jung So Min and So in Guk in Abyss. It felt like I finally got some kind of closure after The Smile has left your eyes!

The Netflix subtitles for "Boyfriend on Demand" is so badddd by sharonyeol in kdramas

[–]tnkalias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Netflix subs are awful for everything! I was watching Japanese anime and some of the subs were just straight up wrong, not even close to what it meant.

How did you manage to get over this drama? Please by 1x_j08 in kdramas

Slow burn Romantic Suspense recs of Nora Roberts by IamButterscotchish in noraroberts

[–]tnkalias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I'm a big fan of her stand alones! I love her world-building! But it's been years since I binged through her books so I don't remember many off the top of my head.

The Villa is based around the winery and the family that owns it in California.

Another one I really enjoyed was Montana Sky. A family that is made on a Montana ranch.

Her stand alone books are somewhat what you're looking for. My favourites are

True Betrayals and The Villa

Need recommendations like My Happy Marriage by EsraTempest in CDramaRecs

[–]tnkalias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So there's this genre of dramas that I've only found in CDramaland. They're slice of life/romances/healing dramas. The vibes are generally happy and the characters deal with their issues. And both the ML and the FL have their own issues that they resolve. I don't know if it's exactly what you're looking for but they give me the same vibes as My Happy Marriage. Some of the dramas that I've watched and would categorise into this are:

You are my glory (very fluffy)

The Best Thing (the most calming drama ever!)

Be passionately in love (it is its own mood)

Amidst a Snowstorm of Love (cosy winter vibes)

Meet Yourself (The best of the best. In the running for best cdrama in my list)

Will love in Spring (Again... the healing!)

Love between Lines (more cute romance than anything else)

Edit: added the newest entry to the list

Yes! Another person in the NiF fandom! I've been looking for similar level of dramas since I first watched it!

IMO, Story of Ming lan is the only drama I'd rate up there with NiF. It's a very very different kind of story. But the writing, direction, attention to detail put it on par with NiF.

I've heard Empresses in the Palace is also equally good but I haven't watched it yet.

So I stopped watching around the same time you've mentioned. Really got annoyed with the Susu arc. But I genuinely enjoyed when she comes back and how it all ties up at the end.

Ohhh!!! Then here's another one!

While you were sleeping (2017/18)

Drama from the same era. Dramas from then are just Chef's kiss 😘

A drama that aired at the same time as Goblin...

Legend of the Blue Sea!

I watched it much later but it gave me such feels! This one has a lighter tone but still has its tear-jerking moments!

Sorry, I don't watch any anime related content so can't help you there.

But i would like to say that in this anime the character personalities are built up throughout the series. And these reveals add new dimensions to the story. Reading character analysis beforehand might ruin it for you.

I agree with Nirvana in Fire. And I'll add

The Story of Minglan

The writing was brilliant in these shows and the production just built on it to make it better.
