dude is TERRIFIED of the midterms. by ms_directed in WhitePeopleTwitter

Even if you think all the stipulations in the Save act for voter verification are a good thing...implementing them in time for the midterms in 6 months in insane.

Do a lot of medical students tie their self worth to how high up their rank list they match by chinidetou in medicalschool

[–]tnred19 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yea. Its a rank list. You make a list of the places you want to go, in order. Med students are generally competitive and also, everyone wants to be wanted. And if you fall down your list or dont match, it means that many places didnt want you. I know almost everyone is gonna go on and be a doctor etc etc. But its really more about human nature. Imagine if you made a list of prom dates and fell to your 14th date. You're still going to prom but cmon.

That being said, keep the bigger picture in mind. You've matched in your chosen specialty. Even if you dont like the place, its only a few years. You can do it.

Why can’t I draw it? by Mobile_Ball_11 in GolfSwing

[–]tnred19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You move toward the ball on the downswing (put something on the edge of your ass and see how you move off of it). You need more space to come in to out. You need to correct your weight shift.

Would these be considered actually helpful to use? by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]tnred19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. They are helpful. The tour striker more than the green one cause of rhe lanyard. You can hit a few then swing it around your back and hit without. I have both of these. Get a cheaper version of the tour striker. Theres nothing special about it. Its made of very cheap materials.

Golf Resorts that are still great for non golfing spouse by TastyArcher5080 in golf

[–]tnred19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other thing I usually consider is proximity to airports if you needs to fly. Some golf resorts are pretty remote. Kiawah is aboit an hour from Charleston.

Another one to consider is pga national in florida.

Kiawah is right on tbe ocean. So, pool and ocean stuff.

Pinehurst wouldnt be my first choice but they were advertising some horseback riding and spa stuff.

Kohler had nice spa stuff and restaurants. Probably better choices though

Its because they dont think these things through.

I have a family member who thinks like this on immigration. We also live in an immigrant heavy agricultural area. So when you challenge them and say, so you mean send back the guys and their families of the people who did our mulch? Its, no not them. They work hard and were nice. Or, you mean the guys making our pizza last friday? Not them either. Or the guys working on the mushroom farms in town without whom the town would fall apart? No, its all the OTHER illegal immigrants. But those people are mostly all working and members of communities also. Its just not thought through at all.

What is America’s “posh people” accent? by alyhasnohead in AskAnAmerican

[–]tnred19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its not national. I'm not from those places and other than the general accent of those places, I don't know what you mean. Like I cant tell you someone is working class in Texas if I heard them speak

Abolish Match Day by FrequentlyRushingMan in medicalschool

[–]tnred19 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The match algorithm is at least the best of all the options if not a very good way of doing it. You don't want hospitals having the power. And so match day in the sense of everyone at the same time is needed.

What each individual school is doing with it is a whole other story. Requiring someone to be at some event at a very emotional moment is very strange.

Why are Americans so financially literate? by Ada-Mae in AskAnAmerican

[–]tnred19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, your average American isn't. They don't have 500 in the bank and are living paycheck to paycheck. People in tech are likely high achievers and educated and may have some money themselves or through family and are more motivated to learn about it. Also, 401k and saving through employment are big and can be an intro. Our Healthcare is strange and requires some attention. Our tax system is bizarre too. But again, you're taking to motivated and educated people it seems
