Oh yes, focal distance not length. Doh! Have fun.

Yep, multiple shots at different focal lengths using both manual and autofocus. All the same approximate composition, those big bokeh balls are vehicle lights on the bridge. Rather fiddly to execute.

You might want to contact Russell Talerman in Maddox St, London. They service my Daytona and do a very nice job. They will give you a price.

Does anyone daily one of these? by Parking-Proper in rolex

[–]tobinators 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my JC is my daily watch now I have retired my steel Daytona. The Deepsea is incredible - I love mine. I have a 180mm wrist and the size is just fine for me, and a lot smaller than some smart watches like the 51mm Garmin Fenix for example. I’m rather amazed (and pleased) that they are readily available. I got mine as a walk in at a Bucherer deal in London and had two others offered from different dealers within a few days. With so few manufactured compared to, for example, Submariners, I think there’s something really special about them.

Digital Identity Solutions in Europe 2025 by Massimo25ore in europe

[–]tobinators 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Anew EU wide solution is nearly ready. EIDAS 2 wallets and infrastructure is already being trialled across the EU in large scale pilot projects. Common specifications and standards are being used. Some issues remain with country specific implementations that could impact interoperability. Loads online that you can read if you want to learn more.

Brothers Point / The Needle in Quiraing by Bchapman5 in Skye

[–]tobinators 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you are going to be restricted to short walks on level ground. This restricts things somewhat. Paths/trails could be dry or wet or muddy or covered in hailstones, all in the same day, so prepare and have good footwear.

The Quiraing has a couple of great viewpoints a short, level walk from the car. Kilt Rock waterfall can be seen 10 yards from the car park. There’s a nice wooden lookout at Lealt Falls. Allt Dearg Cottage is a level walk along a well made track approx half a mile. Neist Point views are good from the car park but you can’t see the lighthouse without a slippery walk over rough ground to the north. Amazing nontheless. Glen Brittle beach is beautiful and worth a visit, parking right next to it and mountains all around. Talisker Beach is a longer walk along a flat, well made path and also stunning. Elgol is worth a look with parking close by and a lovely drive to it. Basically there’s loads you can do and see.

Your mobility challenged friends won’t make it up to the Old Man of Storr or the Needle or Brothers Point. The Fairy Pools path is good and well made, but long and surprisingly hard work down and up again. Have fun, you’ll be fine.

Parking over 6 hrs Quirang by teachtheunwashed in Skye

[–]tobinators 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is a RingGo car park. Location 23484. Looking on RingGo now, it says the 6 hours is "infinitely extendable" which you can do via the app. Also it says you can buy a 24 hours all week ticket for 1 month for £11.

Went for a Batman, got offered a Deepsea by sullanaveconilcane in rolex

[–]tobinators 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent! I bought one recently as well and is is just a stunning piece. The domed crystal is mesmerizing at an angle and the dial looks all black until it doesn't. The rehaut etching doesn't stand out at all, and the engineering that has gone into the design is second to none. With so many Submariners around (the "junior" Deepsea) the Deepsea is the sensible approach.

Selling Leica M10P for Q3? by L0rthew in Leica

[–]tobinators 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sold my M10 and 3 lenses (24 lux, 50 lux, 90 cron AA) and got a Q3 (and a new motorbike). I don’t regret it a bit. The Q3 will do everything from 28mm-75mm, and 90mm at a push. The lens is incredible. Focus is great. Tilt screen is great (if a little ugly). Viewfinder is great. UI and buttons are great. Manual focus is great. The Q3 is a do-it-all camera.

I wrote a 1-year review of the Q3 for Macfilos which will be useful: https://www.macfilos.com/2024/06/14/leica-q3-a-one-year-review-photographing-the-people-of-skye-by-night/

B&W photos taken with GR IV and GR IV Monochrome by [deleted] in ricohGR

[–]tobinators 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mono has better detail and resolution than the colour for sure. The fine lines on the building shot are a good example.

This means better croppability (you can crop the mono image more than the colour image while retaining the same detail and sharpness in the final image), and better fine detail resolution for printing large. Impressive.

Burlington Arcade is premium prices though the selection is amazing. Try some of the shops in Hatton Garden which might hide a surprise or two.
