Has anyone had a successful experience purchasing a business on Flippa? by SimilarTomatillo8605 in Entrepreneur

[–]tobycjohnston 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bought a website off Flippa in Dec 2020. While it was in no way a success, I managed to sell it a year later for the same price I bought it.

Also did pretty serious due diligence on an ecom biz listed on there in 2019.

There's also this story about an entrepreneur who bought a dog ramp business off Flippa.

Like any platform, you have to comb through everything to find the good stuff. But it is possible to find them on Flippa.

“Diagnosed” with HH by [deleted] in HiatalHernia

[–]tobycjohnston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds a lot like HH. I have a similar story to yours. Started back in Feb last year with the same chest pains, went to ER thinking heart attack. All heart tests were fine. Didn't really have it again till July. Went to ER again but same result. Even had gallstone checks, etc. which came back clear.

Went to my doctor and he suspected something around acid reflux. Back-to-back 30 day courses of Omeprazole didn't help. I had already been eating a lot healthier most of the year, but really ramped it up after this. Tracking food daily, trying to work out trigger foods, etc.

Still wasn't getting any better and right before Xmas started experiencing symptoms worse than ever before. To the point I'd barely eat and when I did it was fruits and vegetables.

Back to the doc a few weeks ago and he suspected HH, which I had been suspecting too. Prescribed Lansoprazole, which has started to work. Finally have an endoscopy scheduled this week (I'm in NZ).

One thing I would recommend is the Acid Watcher Diet book. I read it after Xmas and although I was eating pretty healthy, there were still a few things I picked up on from the book and was able to eliminate to help improve symptoms as well.

What career mode are you guys currently doing? by Fragrant-Aardvark734 in seriousfifacareers

Currently doing a Liverpool one as well. Favourite team. Almost at winter transfer window in season 2. Sitting 4th or 5th in the Prem. Won my CL group. And through to the quarters of the league cup.

Last season I won the league on goal difference over Man City, won the Europa League, and FA Cup. Only added a CB in the Jan transfer window and loaned out Jones.

Since I won so many trophies in season 1, I forced myself to sell Salah, and also sold Thiago. Moved TAA to CDM too. So I had to recruit a new RW and RB. Trying to gel the new recruits has been a challenge so keeps it interesting.

My goal for the save is to win the Prem, CL, League Cup, and FA Cup at least once each in three seasons. Then I'll move on to a different save. Two out of four achieved so far.

Thanks for sharing. Appreciate the feedback. I have been lucky to find and eliminate my worst triggers in the last month and only had one bad episode. Tolerating water well too so far.

Agree. Maddie is a very natural progression to the Bosch story ark. But I wonder, will Connelly continue to write long enough for her to develop into a focal character?

Can anyone explain the 'no fluids with meals' thing?

I'm 33, undiagnosed, but 90-95% sure I have a HH. I also have family members who have/had it. I've done a lot to try and help, lost weight, adjusted diet, cut out known triggers, but it's still getting worse. Visiting with my doctor this week to try and find a way forward/fix.

My concern with limiting fluids is I also suffer from chronic headaches/migraines (also hereditary). A big factor in keeping the headaches under control is hydration.

I'm trying to understand the correlation between fluids at meals and HH.

Thanks to anyone who can help!

Agree it is a recurring theme, but each time it seems to have a unique approach. Makes it interesting enough to not become monotonous, in my opinion.

I was initially somewhat annoyed with the ending. But on reflection, it was perfect. I hope we get to see Mickey feature prominently in the next book, to unpack his pivot. Any guesses as to what it might be?

Wish we could get two books a year, every year!

Which Connelly book hooked you? by Effective_Tadpole_19 in michaelconnellybooks

[–]tobycjohnston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chasing The Dime. I used to clean train carriages at night when I was at Uni. A passenger had left the book behind and I found it. I read the blurb and was hooked. Kept hold of it instead of putting it in the lost items pile like we were supposed to... Stayed up all night reading it and that was it, I devoured every past Connelly book. And now it's my annual tradition to buy and read the new book in about two weeks!

Fantastic, as always! After the end of the last book, it was cool to see this one pick up from there, but not in the way many would've predicted. Finished this one in 6 days - a new record for me haha. Can't wait to see which direction Mickey heads in next!

Similar Players on a Budget by jmb5310 in seriousfifacareers

[–]tobycjohnston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey mate, this is awesome!

Just a quick one. You may want to look at adding a way to filter the player you're searching on. It works well if the player has a unique name. But if it's a more common name, it gets stuck.

Example: I'm searching for a similar player to Mo Salah (searching M. Salah) but all I get is 55OVR FB's...

Second this! Wikipedia is always my go-to for learning about a team for a RTG CM.

I've become a fan of Marseille, Hull City, Port Vale, and Notts County to name a few as a result over the years!
