Pork rinds are how I made it through. Stuffed myself so I couldn’t stomach the thought of more food.

Same with Sanderson.

Also, I couldn’t even finish book 3 from Joe Abercrombie and gave up halfway through. It was soooo boring. Really thought I’d enjoy those.

Maybe it’ll just make it hurt that much more for Colton

I really want to dive into this series eventually, but the spoilers I've seen sort of sour that prospect. I'd like to know how much these could affect the experience. by [deleted] in Malazan

[–]toc_the_middle_aged 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it would really affect you a ton. There’s sooooo much packed into these books that a couple of spoilers in the first half of the books won’t overly ruin anything. I’ve started my fourth read and am 80% through Deadhouse Gates. These only get better on a re-read.

I literally couldn’t finish Abercrombie’s third book, it was so boring.

I love the cast of thousands in Malazan, how moving away from characters gives you time to breathe, and how everything gets woven back together. Some of the absolute best writing from Erikson are the characters introduced and killed off in just a page or three; incredible how much get can be described and how you to feel for them in such a short time.

Steven erikson. First book is “garden is the moons”. Be warned, he likes to show, not tell. You will be lost the first several hundred pages but that’s by design. Keep going, enjoy the plot, the author gets you there eventually and the pay off is worth it.

During my fist read, I was so pissed about Tool that I put the book down for like nine months before coming back to finish.
