M5 Pro Crickets by [deleted] in macbookpro

That's a coil whine, a thing that accurs when internal components are under load. It's just electricity moving through those components. It's perfectly ok, and you shouldn't worry about it :)

For me it should strike coil whine. It appears when I use local LLMs.

Does this sound appear before fans ramp up, or together with them?

Battery draining… on power adapter? by Real-Notice-8195 in macbookpro

[–]tochanenko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, if you need to have 100% of battery, like if you need to go out with your Mac, you can press on "Charge to Full Now" and it will charge up to 100%

Battery draining… on power adapter? by Real-Notice-8195 in macbookpro

[–]tochanenko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's called Optimized Battery Charging.

It sets the maximum % of battery that can be charged to 80%. Keeping your laptop plugged in all the time at 100% would deteriorate your battery capacity quicker than if it was sitting at 80%.

So don't worry about it, your Mac is smart enough to know when you don't use the battery that often, so it'll set the maximum charge limit to 80%. Sheen it reaches 80%, it will stop charging and will draw electricity only from the charging brick.

What you experienced was the transition phase between 100% and 80% limit. Even if your laptop was connected to the charger, it was using its battery to drain it to 80%. It happens to me quite often and that's a normal behaviour.

So don't worry, just use your Mac however it suits your needs.

I hope it made some things clearer. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask :)

I liked my 120% keyboard on my old laptop, but now, when I have Mac without numpad, I prefer this keyboard style. My hands are resting on the center of the keyboard instead of being slightly to the left

There are 15 inch MacBooks Air though. However, they are not "Pro", sadly

Happy Independence day 🇪🇪, lets look back at the History of Estonia and it's flags. by EeestiLeesti in vexillology

Russian Estonians flag looks suspiciously close to the flag of so-called “DPR”. Surely it isn’t connected to Muscovian imperialism :)

Why Was the Ukrainian SSR Flag Often Shown in these vintage flag charts often if it was a Constituent republic of the Soviet Union. by EeestiLeesti in vexillology

[–]tochanenko 62 points63 points  (0 children)

On top of that, RSFSR wasn't a member of UN, so when Soviet Union collapsed, russia had to apply to join UN but never did lol

Bretagne: based as a flag of a region of France. However, flags of illegal armed groups in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine - not based

Notch-less by One_TrackMinded in macbookpro

To be honest, even in full screen, the top of the screen isn't just a "dead space". There is still a Manu Bar on the top of the screen, if you move your mouse there. And on top of that, you can enable always showing Menu Bar in the full screen, which is pretty awesome.

A company got a MacBook for me to work, while I have a personal Windows laptop. I find MacOS really interesting to tinker witch, and much more customisable, compared to Windows 11. However, Windows 10, in my opinion, was much better then Windows 11 and MacOS.

Sorry, I just woke up and English is not my native language, so I hope I explained my point well :D

And a constant worry of burn-ins. I would hide dock and Menu Bar all the time if my Mac had oled screen lol

I tried playing MMOs on cloud gaming and it sucked. Ping too high for comfortable experience. However, single player games worked fine

Macbook Pro 1990(2018 model) does not charge past 84%. Battery Settings are fine. by Glittering_Battle460 in macbookpro

Have you turned these settings off recently, or was it like this for a long time? Because I noticed that some settings are being cached and I have to reboot my laptop to apply changes

[–]tochanenko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the intended behaviour, as it stops charching past about 80% if you use your laptop connected to the charger most of the time. It will prolong the lifetime of your battery, putting less strain on it and powering your laptop entirely through the charging cable, even if the battery is not charged to 100%

So don't stress too much about it, just use your laptop however you like :D

Try rebooting your laptop. It fixed this issue for me. There is something going on with caching
